Product Test Engineer - Mainframe Technologies (4-7 yrs)

Responsibilities :

- Develop comprehensive test plans and strategies based on project requirements and specifications.

- Define test scope, objectives, and resource requirements.

- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment on testing goals.

- Execute functional, regression, and automation tests on mainframe applications.

- Perform thorough testing of COBOL, REXX, JCL, IMS-DB, and DB2 applications.

- Utilize JIRA for test case management, defect tracking, and reporting.

- Manage test environments and data.

- Adhere to the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) process.

- Develop and execute test scripts for mainframe applications using COBOL, REXX, and JCL.

- Perform data validation and integrity testing on IMS-DB and DB2 databases.

- Troubleshoot and resolve mainframe-related issues.

- Create detailed test cases, test scripts, and test data.

- Generate test reports and metrics to track progress and identify defects.

- Prepare Test Closure Memos summarizing testing activities and results.

- Maintain a robust Requirement Traceability Matrix (RTM).

- Develop and maintain automated test scripts where applicable.

- Evaluate and recommend automation tools and frameworks.

- Work closely with developers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.

- Participate in code reviews and provide feedback on code quality.

Required Skills & Experience :

- Minimum 4+ years of experience in software testing, with a strong focus on mainframe technologies.

- Extensive hands-on experience with: COBOL REXX JCL IMS-DB DB2

- Proven experience in test plan and strategy creation.

- Solid understanding of the STLC process.

- Hands-on experience with JIRA for test management and defect tracking.

- Strong knowledge of RTM and its application.

- Proficiency in functional, regression, and automation testing.

- Experience creating Test Closure Memos.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice to Have :

- Experience with z/OS Connect API.

- Functional knowledge of the banking industry.

Education :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
