VP Strategic Initiatives

About the role:

The Vice President – Strategic Initiatives will be a key member of IIX’s leadership team, responsible for designing, executing, and scaling new strategic initiatives that align with the organization’s mission and growth objectives. This individual will spearhead cross-functional projects, develop high-level partnerships, and ensure that all strategic initiatives are impactful, sustainable, and effectively integrated into IIX’s broader vision.

The broad areas of work will include:

Strategic Planning and Execution

• Drive the development and implementation of long-range strategic initiatives that advance IIX’s mission and business goals
• Identify emerging trends in the impact investing, sustainable finance, and development sectors, and integrate relevant opportunities into IIX’s strategic roadmap
• Oversee cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and accountability on strategic projects
• Support the Senior leadership in developing proposals for product development and advisory assignments

New Ventures & Growth

• Lead feasibility studies and market analyses to identify potential new ventures, partnerships, or product lines
• Develop clear business cases, including financial models, risk assessments, and go-to-market strategies
• Launch and manage pilot programs to test and refine innovative concepts, scaling successful initiatives
• Monitor progress towards strategic goals, monitor personal and team KPIs and identify any roadblocks or areas for improvement.

Business Development and Partnerships

• Create and direct new business opportunities for revenue generation
• Assist the senior leadership in identifying new markets and identifying potential growth opportunities within existing and for new markets
• Cultivate and maintain senior-level relationships with strategic partners, donors, investors, and other stakeholders
• Negotiate high-value collaborations that advance IIX’s mission and create scalable impact
• Represent IIX at industry forums and conferences, positioning the organization as a thought leader and innovator in impact investing

Operation Excellence:

• Develop tactical action plans with assigned projects to address key business needs, measure and track results in line with the corporate strategy;
• Assist Senior leaders and CEO with strategy and relevant materials for meetings.

• Assist the senior leaders in creating business plans and proposals (for new business ideas) and review data to monitor progress across their business initiatives; and
• Any other duties as determined by the senior management related to company growth

Cross-functional collaboration

• Collaborate closely with internal leaders to coordinate strategic priorities, share learnings, and integrate insights into ongoing initiatives
• Foster a culture of open communication and teamwork to break down silos and enhance organizational agility

Leadership & Team Management:

• Lead and mentor a high-performing team of strategy and business development professionals championing an inclusive, mission-driven culture that aligns with IIX’s values of impact, innovation, and collaboration
• Manage and mentor cross-functional teams involved in strategic initiatives, providing guidance, performance feedback, and career development opportunities
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and high performance within the team with open communication

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree or MBA is preferred
• At least 8 years of relevant work experience (Impact Investing, Management Consulting, Investment Banking, PE/VC or similar fields with exposure to Finance, Sustainability, Strategy, Business development, Tech or similar relevant topics)
• Familiarity with capital markets, sustainable finance, and/or international development is a plus
• Demonstrated success in driving organizational growth through strategic initiatives and partnerships
• Experience handling clients/external and senior stakeholders in major consulting firms, international development agencies, advisory services firms
• Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to adapt to senior management's working styles, able to work across teams in collaboration
• Experience managing and motivating high-performing teams across multiple functions
• Ability to analyze complex industry trends and organizational needs, translating them into practical strategies and initiatives
• Proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, and market research to inform data-driven decisions
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively articulate complex ideas
• Strong business acumen and understanding of market dynamics, customer needs, and competitive landscape
• Excellent proficiency working in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
