Senior Electrical Engineer (Interconnection and Substation)

Our work is focused on enabling the development of and investment in energy infrastructure. Working within the Technical Advisory group, your role as a Senior Electrical Engineer will include engaging with clients and solving challenges related to the development, design, construction, operation, and analysis of renewable energy projects.

As a member of the Technical Advisory team, you will be delivering high-value technical diligence support and offer solutions for mitigating technical and commercial challenges encountered by our clients. You will have an opportunity to work across energy technologies and engage with clients and industry stakeholders regarding the opportunities present in the evolving energy industry.

Technical Advisory provides comprehensive energy industry advisory services supporting strategic investments, portfolio management, operational planning, market developments, policy analyses, regulatory support, and customer engagement. We work collaboratively across several divisions within ICF, including our Power and Gas Market team, Environment and Planning team, and Transportation and Sustainability team. Consultants at ICF integrate their industry experience with advanced consulting and analytical skills. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will utilize your experience to provide Independent Engineering and Owner’s Engineering advisory services.

What would you do?

You will be a leader and key member of a client facing consulting team evaluating project needs, identifying critical risks and providing solutions in support of energy generation financing and development. Your primary responsibilities will include setting standards for review, coaching and mentoring junior team members, collaborating across energy advisory – as well as developing technical reviews of major project components, evaluating electrical design of generation systems, and managing due diligence projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the electrical design work and conduct engineering reviews for the Technical Advisory India.
• Collaborate with the team to set standards for design, interconnection, and control systems reviews
• Perform review of the design of energy generation systems (solar, wind, battery storage, biofuels, or thermal).
• Perform technology reviews for equipment and systems for energy generation projects, including individual components, control systems, and system architectures.
• Direct detailed technical research related to the design of energy generation projects, critical component technology development, and manufacturing trends.
• Manage independent engineering or owner’s advisory projects including client interaction, ICF team organization, and project financials and reporting.
• Develop and maintain client relations among developers, financial institutions, and technology providers.
  

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical, civil, structural, mechanical, and/or chemical) or related field with a focus on power systems
• 6+ years of experience working in engineering and design related areas including design of renewable energy projects and related interconnection and controls.
• Demonstrated understanding of current design issues for power generation projects including but not limited to: industry best practices relating to engineering and construction; power system design; construction practices; control systems and grid interaction; substation and interconnection design; and the technical aspects of interconnection agreements.
• Ability to work with and understand technical concepts, while also being able to communicate them to varied audiences.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Managerial experience
• Master’s degree in engineering or related field with a focus on power systems.
• Engineer-in-Training or Professional Engineer’s license preferred.
• Experience with utility scale solar and battery storage generation modeling, design, construction, operation, and/or development a plus.
