In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing multiple Scrum teams, collectively comprising 40+ engineering professionals. Job detail:

We are in search of a Director of Engineering who possesses a deep passion for nurturing and guiding teams of highly skilled software engineers. In this pivotal role, you will take charge of charting the course for the team and its individual members, ensuring their success both professionally and personally. Collaboration with product managers to grasp the application's vision and contribute to backlog creation and prioritization will be a crucial aspect of your responsibilities. Additionally, you will shoulder the responsibility for the agile delivery of technical solutions from the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with the CTO, Product teams (Engineering lead and Product managers), and key stakeholders to craft a comprehensive long-term technology and product strategy.
  • Project Oversight: Effectively manage team goals, product development timelines, and delivery dates, ensuring optimal allocation of resources and budgetary control within the team.
  • Leadership Development: Lead and nurture a team of highly skilled and impactful engineers, offering cultural, technical, and hands-on guidance to foster their growth.
  • Cultivate Growth: Cultivate the growth of engineers by actively fostering a culture of open communication, craftsmanship, ownership, and accountability within the team.
  • Best Practices Advocate: Drive the adoption of engineering best practices to scale both the team and the technology stack, promoting efficiency and excellence.
  • Accountability for Excellence: Take full accountability for and instill accountability for key performance indicators (KPIs) related to service health, uptime, software quality, and test coverage.
  • Goal-Oriented Leadership: Propel work, execution, and accountability based on defined goals (OKRs) and measurable outcomes, ensuring strategic alignment.
  • Knowledge Management: Promote a rigorous practice of thorough documentation and knowledge sharing to enhance team efficiency and knowledge retention.
