Job Title: Senior Automation QA Engineer

Location: Indore, India (Work from Office Preferred; Remote Considered)

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Automation QA Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have over 7 years of experience in testing complex software applications, with a minimum of 2 years dedicated to backend and database automation testing. This role is crucial in ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of our software products.

Candidates who can relocate to Indore for a work-from-office role are preferred, but we are also open to considering remote candidates with the right expertise and experience.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Automation Test Strategy and Planning:
   
• Develop comprehensive test strategies and plans for automation testing of complex software applications.
• Identify automation testing requirements, risks, and challenges, and propose effective solutions.
• Collaborate with project managers, developers, and stakeholders to define acceptance criteria and ensure a thorough understanding of project goals.
2. Automation Test Design and Execution:
   
• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using industry-standard tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, JUnit, TestNG).
• Implement automated test scripts for backend systems and databases, ensuring thorough coverage of data integrity, performance, and security.
• Execute automated tests and analyze results to identify and document defects, ensuring that they are promptly addressed by the development team.
3. Backend and Database Testing:
   
• Perform in-depth testing of backend systems, including APIs, web services, and database layers.
• Develop and execute database automation tests, focusing on data validation, query optimization, and performance testing.
• Collaborate with database administrators and developers to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data transactions and storage.
4. Continuous Integration and Continuous Testing (CI/CT):
   
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and fast feedback loops.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to ensure smooth deployment and integration of automated tests within the software development lifecycle.
• Monitor and maintain the health of CI/CT pipelines, addressing any issues that may impact test execution.
5. Quality Assurance Leadership:
   
• Lead and mentor a team of QA engineers, providing guidance on automation best practices, tools, and techniques.
• Review and validate automated test scripts and test results to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to quality standards.
• Establish and enforce QA processes, standards, and metrics across the organization.
6. Collaboration and Communication:
   
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and business analysts, to ensure seamless integration of automation testing within the development process.
• Provide regular updates and reports on testing progress, issues, and risks to stakeholders and management.
• Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospective meetings as part of the Agile development process.
7. Continuous Improvement:
   
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and drive initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of automation testing.
• Stay updated with the latest trends, tools, and best practices in software testing and quality assurance.
• Conduct post-release/post-implementation testing and analysis to ensure software integrity and performance in the production environment.

Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Experience:
  
• A minimum of 7+ years of experience in software testing and quality assurance, with a strong focus on automation testing of complex software applications.
• At least 2+ years of experience in backend and database automation testing, including experience with APIs, web services, and database layers.
• Technical Skills:
  
• Proficiency in test automation tools such as Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, or similar.
• Strong knowledge of programming/scripting languages (e.g., Java, Python, SQL) for test automation.
• Experience with CI/CD tools and pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) and their integration with automated tests.
• In-depth understanding of database systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle) and experience with database testing, including query optimization and data validation.
• Soft Skills:
  
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Leadership experience in mentoring and guiding junior QA engineers.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and working in Agile development environments.
• Knowledge of performance and security testing tools and practices.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., ISTQB, CSTE) are a plus.
