Chief Financial Officer
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the overall financial management, business analysis and reporting.
- Ensuring on-going viability and a secure financial future in line with the organization's charitable status, mission and values.
- Manage, develop and maintain all financial systems and internal controls and provide advice and training to budget holders and staff within the organization on finance related procedures, issues and budgetary control.
- Advise the CEO, Steering Council and Leader Council on financial strategy and its impact on Institution's objectives. They should also have input into Institution's objectives and whether they are realistic given the current and projected financial situation.
- Participate in financial, human resources and strategic planning.
- Assist the council in sourcing prospects for future income by analyzing financial trends and any gaps in the market or potential opportunities
Areas of Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning:
- Performing accurate and effective cost analysis to facilitate key business decisions.
Accounting Management:
- Managing the accounts of all Units and consolidating them at appropriate frequencies.
- Ensuring integrity and accuracy of all transactions accounted.
- Maintaining up to date and accurate Management Information System and providing the same to all the stakeholders.
- Monitoring the accounts receivable and payable and controlling them within the acceptable norms and ensuring there are no write offs.
- Presenting accounts at the meeting of the board of trustees, steering council and other occasions wherever required.
- Ensure control over budget Vs actual expenditure
Financial Management:
- Funds planning to ensure right funds are made available at the right time.
- Liaison with bank and other financial institutions regarding banking or loan operations.
- Liaison with Insurance companies and Third Party Agencies for submission and recovery of claims.
- Receiving the Finance Compliance Certificates and Reconciliations from Units every month.
- Provide accurate and timely reporting on the financial activity of individual projects.
Procurement Management:
- Ensuring that all assets are insured and all policies are current and there is no over or under insurance of any assets of the organization.
- Maintaining proper record of the Fixed Assets of the organization and ensuring their availability.
- Overseeing the purchase function such that right quantity is purchased at right time at right price.
- Participating in the capital purchase committee meetings as a member.
Budget Preparation:
- Facilitating the budget preparation of the units and compiling the overall budget of the organization.
- Establish guidelines for budget and forecast preparation, and prepare the annual budget in consultation with the CEO and Steering Council.
- Coordinating with projects department in the preparation of projects budget, accounting of project expenses and control over budget Vs actual expenditure.
- Assist unit heads and project head with preparation of budgets for funding applications.
Risk Management:
- Monitor risk management policies and procedures to ensure that project and organizational risks are minimized.
- Advise the Institution's leadership on appropriate insurance coverage for the Institution and the Trust.
- Negotiate with Bank for lines of credit or other financial services as required and appropriate.
Information Systems:
- Maintaining Tally and integration with Medics.
- Evaluate the need for new technology to meet the organization's financial data processing, control, and reporting requirements.
- Advise on appropriate technology that meets the organization's information requirements and financial resources to Information Systems Department.
Statutory Compliance:
- Compliance to applicable laws like Income Tax, Service Tax, etc. in the matter of filing returns, payment of dues, etc.
- Liaison with internal and statutory auditors for their audits.
Requirements:
- Chartered Accountant with minimum of 8-10 years of experience in accounting and finance
- Financial operations in a hospital industry and have experience of working in an effective Accounts and Finance function in a very fast-paced environment.
- Thorough knowledge in computerized accounting systems like Tally.
- Good team player and should have managed a minimum of 5 direct reportees.
- Must be flexible in approach and able to work in a true team environment.
