Job Description

Mission Statement:

The SAP CoE Service BU & Archetype Leader combines two roles: on the one hand, he/she represents his/her Business Unit (BU) in the SAP CoE Leadership team, and on the other hand, he/she leads at the Service Business A r chetype. The Service BU & Archetype lead ensures that the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems enable effective and efficient management of businesses assigned to the respective business archetype.

The Service BU & Archetype Lead directly reports into the Head of SAP CoE, while ensuring a stringent alignment with his/her BU Service Managing Director.

As BU representative, he/she ensures engagement and commitment from the respective BU and is responsible to get the required agreements and resource commitments from the senior stakeholders.

As Business Archetype leader, he/she is accountable and fully empowered to represent the interests of all BUs for the Service Business Archetype. In this role, the Service BU & Archetype Lead collaborates closely with the SAP CoE global product owners to make sure that the business processes for the Service business archetype are being harmonized, leveraging standard and ready-to use ERP functionalities where feasible.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Monitor business and strategic issues and provide advice on topics that have impact on the SAP CoE rationale or success as well as risks.

  • Mobilize Business Units senior stakeholders to get agreement and commitments as required by the SAP CoE.

  • Act as representative of his/her Service Business Units and represent his/her best interests.

  • Actively support the SAP CoE and directly collaborate with the Head of SAP CoE.

  • Act as an advocate and ambassador for the SAP CoE and the SAP single instance in his/her Service Business Unit.

  • Support SAP CoE priority setting & all decision-making processes.

  • Escalate to SAP CoE management team and Head of CoE, if required. Ensure provision of the required resources for SAP CoE planning and delivery. Conduct the Business Archetype Board to review and to take decisions as presented by the process focus teams.

  • Identify and engage with Global Business Process Owner (GBPO) to participate to design decision as necessary.

  • Present the Business Archetype point of view regarding existing process best practices and engage BU Service GBPOs to demo such best practices, if required.

  • Work closely with the SAP CoE Global Product Owners to review, contribute and participate and decide on template and design aspects presented to the Business Archetype Board. Sign off on the final design decisions.

  • Enforce the adherence to committed guiding principles of the SAP CoE defined in the High Impact Session, especially around fit to standard/harmonization approach. Engage with all other Business Units and represent the view of the business across all other Business Units.

  • Review and rule on areas identified during the various topics executed in the SAP CoE, i. e. process scope, foundational concepts and key design decisions, technical architecture/applications and master data, change requests with corresponding risk/impact assessments, overall roadblocks.

Your Background:

  • Bachelor/Master s Degree in Engineering, Business or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.

  • More than 10 years of experience in SAP service provider or similar position.

  • Global view of a Business Units and of a specific Business Archetype (ETO, MTO, MTS, Systems, Services or Software).

  • Decision making and issue resolution skills.

  • Cross-functional understanding of HE business best practices and strategic direction in the context of the Business Archetype or Business Function.

  • Ability to build a strong network across all Business Lines to help him/her identify and leverage GBPOs as required to support the template design activities.

  • Ability to articulate and present decision recommendations, with alternatives explored, to the SAP CoE Leadership Team. Ability to communicate, create consensus and commitment with senior stakeholders and throughout the organization.

  • Strong drive skills and ability to provide leadership to ensure effective solutions that drive business values.

  • Ability to negotiate and convince other Business Unit Leads and Process Leaders in order to create consensus.

  • Able to transport related Business requirements to business and IS teams focusing and working out the processes.

  • Experienced representing the interests and requirements of the business in an IT implementation project.

  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
