Chief Vigilance Officer

Role & responsibilities

The Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) is responsible for ensuring transparency, integrity, and compliance with ethical standards within the organization. The CVO oversees vigilance activities, investigates misconduct, and implements measures to prevent corruption, fraud, and malpractices. The role requires close coordination with regulatory bodies, internal departments, and external stakeholders to uphold governance and accountability.

1. Vigilance & Compliance Management:

• Develop and implement vigilance policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with ethical and legal standards.
• Establish mechanisms to detect and prevent corruption, fraud, and misconduct within the organization.
• Conduct periodic vigilance audits and reviews to identify risk areas and recommend corrective actions.

2. Investigations & Monitoring:

• Oversee investigations into allegations of misconduct, fraud, or ethical breaches, ensuring impartiality and confidentiality.
• Recommend disciplinary actions based on investigation findings in coordination with legal and HR teams.
• Maintain records of vigilance cases, complaints, and actions taken.

3. Regulatory & Legal Compliance:

• Ensure adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and corporate governance guidelines.
• Liaise with government agencies such as law enforcement, and regulatory bodies.
• Provide inputs on compliance matters to senior management and board members.

5. Awareness & Training Programs:

• Conduct training sessions and awareness programs for employees on ethics, compliance, and anti-corruption policies.
• Promote a culture of integrity and accountability across all levels of the organization.
• Encourage whistleblowing mechanisms and protect whistleblowers from retaliation.

6. Coordination & Reporting:

• Report vigilance-related matters to the top management and relevant regulatory authorities.
• Prepare and submit vigilance reports, compliance updates, and case summaries.
• Ensure seamless coordination between vigilance, HR, legal, and internal audit teams.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelors/Masters degree in any discipline.
• Should have worked in police (rank of SI or Inspector), ex-army or any defence services.
• Overall 25 30 years of experience, in which recently should have worked in education institutions as Vigilance Officer or as CVO.
