Purpose:

In-Charge Electrical is responsible for overseeing the electrical systems and ensuring their optimal performance, safety, and compliance with regulations. This role involves managing electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and coordinating with other departments to support the plant's operations.

Direct reports:

Engineer / Technician will report directly to the position.

Dimensions of position / kpi:

• Prepare shift schedule and manpower as per requirement.
• Arrange manpower, material, machine for day-to-day maintenance jobs.
• Evaluate the root cause analysis for customer complaints pertaining to equipment failure, for taking appropriate corrective & preventive actions by using different QC 7 tools.
• Improve OPE by TPM activity to reduce Break Down.
• Inventory Management in the section.
• To ensure drawing or related document update after any modification.
• Ensure NDT is being followed and necessary actions are taken.

Area of operation:

Oversees the electrical maintenance activities and ensures that the workforce is productive. Ensuring that staff are all aware of operational best practices and implementing new technologies & safe working practices.

Key result areas:

Electrical System Management:

• Oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of all electrical systems and equipment within the chemical plant.
• Ensure electrical systems are operating efficiently and reliably to support production processes.

Preventive Maintenance:

• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for electrical equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
• Conduct regular inspections and tests of electrical systems to identify and rectify issues before they escalate.

Troubleshooting and Repairs:

• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults and failures promptly.
• Coordinate and perform repairs to restore system functionality and minimize production interruptions.

Safety Compliance:

• Ensure all electrical work complies with safety regulations and standards, including OSHA and NFPA guidelines.
• Conduct safety training for the electrical team and ensure adherence to safe work practices.

Project Management:

• Plan and execute electrical projects, including upgrades, expansions, and new installations.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring successful project completion.

Team Leadership:

• Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of electricians and electrical technicians.
• Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide technical guidance to ensure high-quality work.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain detailed records of electrical maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
• Prepare reports on electrical system performance, maintenance activities, and project progress.

Collaboration with Other Departments:

• Work closely with production, engineering, and safety departments to ensure electrical systems meet operational needs.
• Support cross-functional teams in process improvement and problem-solving initiatives.

Vendor and Contractor Management:

• Liaise with external vendors and contractors for electrical equipment procurement, services, and support.
• Evaluate and select vendors based on quality, cost, and reliability.

Regulatory Compliance:

• Ensure all electrical systems comply with relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
• Prepare for and participate in regulatory inspections and audits.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or a related field.

Knowledge & experience:

• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, and maintenance practices.
• Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
• Around 5-7 years of Electrical operation & maintenance of continuous process plant (Refinery / petrochemical / fertilizer / chemical Industry.)

Skills and attributes:

• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Proficiency in using electrical diagnostic tools and software.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and project management principles.
• Certification or licensure as a professional electrician or electrical engineer is preferred.
