Purpose:

The In-Charge Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for overseeing and managing the instrumentation and control systems of the chemical plant. This role involves ensuring the reliability, accuracy, and safety of all instrumentation used in the production processes. The role requires a deep understanding of instrumentation engineering principles, maintenance practices, and industry standards.

Direct Reports:

Engineer / Technician will report directly to the position.

Dimensions of position / kpi:

• To maintain Spare cost within budget
• To maintain Preventive Maintenance Schedule& maintain slipage rate 2% of all units
• Prepare & Supervise Shutdown Maintenance job as Targeted
• To Reduce down-time as Targeted
• Compliance of system-5S Score 80%, Line Walk, Internal and External Audit.

Area Of Operation:

Oversees the Instrumentation maintenance activities and ensures that the workforce is productive. Ensuring that staff are all aware of operational best practices and implementing new technologies & safe working practices.

Key result areas:

Management and Supervision:

• Lead and supervise the instrumentation team, including technicians and junior engineers.
• Plan and allocate tasks to team members, ensuring efficient use of resources and timely completion of projects.

Installation and Maintenance:

• Oversee the installation, calibration, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure the reliability of instrumentation.

Troubleshooting and Repair:

• Diagnose and resolve instrumentation and control system malfunctions.
• Provide technical support and guidance to the maintenance team during troubleshooting activities.

Project Management:

• Lead instrumentation projects from conception to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordination with other departments.
• Ensure all projects comply with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

Safety and Compliance:

• Ensure all instrumentation and control systems comply with industry safety standards and regulations.
• Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate documentation of instrumentation systems, including manuals, schematics, and maintenance records.
• Prepare and present reports on system performance, maintenance activities, and project progress to senior management.

Continuous Improvement:

• Identify opportunities for improving instrumentation and control systems, enhancing efficiency, reliability, and safety.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in instrumentation engineering.

Training and Development:

• Conduct training sessions for staff on the operation and maintenance of instrumentation systems.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and technicians.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Instrumentation engineering or a related field.

Knowledge & Experience:

• Strong knowledge of Instrumentation systems, equipment, and maintenance practices.
• Strong knowledge of Instrumentation codes, standards, and regulations.
• Around 4-6 years of Instrumentation operation & maintenance of continuous process plant (Refinery / petrochemical / fertilizer / chemical Industry.)
