Senior Technical and Design Engineer

Role & responsibilities

1. Pre-Sales Drawings:

a. Guide the development of pre-sales drawings, ensuring they meet client requirements and align with initial design concepts.

b. Collaborate with the sales and technical teams to refine design proposals.

c. Review and approve pre-sales drawings for accuracy and feasibility.

d. Coordinate with the technical personnel from the client side

2. Design Deliverables:

a. Provide technical guidance and assistance in the preparation and submission of design deliverables on time as per the pre-established workflows or prepare on their own when required. i.e. Quantification, Bill of Materials (BOM), GA Drawings, Shop Floor Drawings, Technical Reports etc.

b. Oversee the creation of manufacturing drawings, ensuring they are clear, precise, and in line with design specifications. Provide technical guidance to ensure that all manufacturing drawings comply with industry standards and regulations.

c. Review and validate design elements, including material selection, calculations, and compliance with relevant codes.

3. On-Site Design Implementation:

a. Provide expert guidance during the implementation phase, ensuring that on-site designs align with the approved plans.

b. Visit project sites to oversee installation and address any design-related challenges that arise.

c. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure smooth execution of designs on-site.

4. Team Leadership:

a. Manage and mentor a team of designers and drafters.

b. Foster a collaborative environment, encouraging professional development and knowledge sharing.

c. Ensure the team meets project deadlines and maintains high-quality work standards.

5. Technical Documentation:

- Develop and standardize templates for different design deliverables.

- Prepare clear, comprehensive reports, SOPs etc with relevant code references.

- Review and validate the BOMs for accurate component estimation and other design deliverables for accuracy.

Key Attributes:

- Strong understanding of steel structure design and mechanical foundation principles.

- Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.

- Commitment to continuous improvement and staying updated with industry trends.

- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Software Skills:

- Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD, Inventor (Preferred)/SolidWorks/Creo/Catia, Revit Structure (Preferred)/MEP/Architecture.

- Proficient in Analysis software such as Staad Pro (Preferred)/RStab/Equivalent.

- Strong MS Office skills for effective communication and documentation.

- Familiarity with project management tools is a plus.

Preferred candidate profile

Education: B.E/ M.E in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience: 7-10 years in design and estimation, with a proven track record of managing teams and delivering successful projects.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
