Paint Shop Engineer

Job Summary:
The Paint Shop Engineer ensures the efficient and effective operation of paint shop facilities, maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and environmental compliance. They will be responsible for overseeing the paint application processes, managing equipment, troubleshooting issues, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operations Management:
  
• Supervise and manage day-to-day operations of the paint shop, ensuring smooth and timely execution of projects.
• Monitor and optimize the performance of paint application processes, including spraying, curing, and drying.
• Coordinate the scheduling and workflow of painting operations to meet production timelines.
• Quality Control:
  
• Ensure that painted products meet the required quality standards, including surface finish, adhesion, and coating thickness.
• Conduct regular inspections and perform tests to monitor paint application quality.
• Address and resolve any quality issues or defects in the painted products.
• Maintenance & Equipment Management:
  
• Oversee the maintenance of all equipment in the paint shop, such as spray booths, curing ovens, air filtration systems, and mixing equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any equipment breakdowns or malfunctions.
• Manage inventory and ensure that the required materials, such as paints, coatings, and solvents, are stocked and readily available.
• Safety & Environmental Compliance:
  
• Ensure that all operations comply with safety regulations and environmental standards.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement measures to minimize hazards associated with painting operations (e.g., ventilation, protective gear, and fire safety).
• Maintain proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and solvents in accordance with environmental guidelines.
• Process Improvement:
  
• Continuously assess and improve the painting processes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance quality.
• Work with the R&D or technical teams to implement new technologies or paint formulations.
• Train and mentor staff in the best practices for painting and coating application.
• Collaboration:
  
• Work closely with other departments, including production, quality control, and engineering, to meet project requirements.
• Liaise with suppliers and vendors to source high-quality materials and ensure timely delivery.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in engineering, industrial technology, or a related field (preferred).
• Proven experience in a paint shop or manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of painting techniques, materials, and equipment.
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, including environmental and safety practices.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong leadership and communication abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) is a plus.
