System and Network Engineer

Role & responsibilities

1. Network Infrastructure Management: Design, configure, and maintain network components such as routers, switches, firewalls, and servers to ensure reliable and efficient network performance.
2. System and Network Performance Optimization: Monitor system and network performance regularly, resolving issues promptly to minimize downtime and ensure smooth operation.
3. Hardware and Software Maintenance: Install, configure, and update systems, both hardware and software, to ensure all components function at peak efficiency.
4. Security Implementation: Develop and enforce security measures to protect company data and networks from external threats, ensuring compliance with security protocols and best practices.
5. Cloud and On-Premises Management: Manage both cloud-based systems (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and on-premises infrastructure, ensuring both are seamlessly integrated and optimized.
6. Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Provide ongoing technical support to internal staff and end-users, troubleshooting hardware and software issues to maintain operational efficiency.
7. Documentation: Create and maintain clear, comprehensive system documentation, including network configurations, processes, and standard operating procedures.
8. Collaboration with Vendors: Coordinate with vendors and third-party service providers to source hardware, software, and service solutions as needed.
9. System Audits and Disaster Recovery: Conduct regular system audits, backups, and disaster recovery drills to ensure business continuity and data integrity.
10. Stay Current with Technology: Continuously learn and stay updated with the latest advancements in system and network technologies, recommending necessary upgrades or improvements.

Preferred candidate profile

• Educational Background: A Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Certifications: Preferred certifications include CCNA, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Azure Administrator, or AWS Solutions Architect.
• Experience: 1-3 years of experience in system and network engineering or a related role.
• Technical Expertise: Proficiency in networking technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN), system administration (Windows, Linux, macOS), and cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Security Knowledge: Understanding of firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and endpoint security solutions.
• Scripting Skills: Experience with scripting languages like PowerShell, Python, or Bash for task automation.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to troubleshooting and resolving issues.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
