Job Description

As a Trade Marketing professional, you will play a pivotal role in driving sales revenue through a robust network of country distributors while also developing and nurturing direct customer accounts. This dynamic position combines strategic marketing initiatives with hands-on sales execution, requiring international travel as needed.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Trade marketing
    • Develop and execute trade marketing initiatives tailored to brand and country-specific requirements
    • Analyse brand positioning in new and emerging markets, identifying targeted consumer insights and proposing relevant products or NPDs (New Product Developments)
    • Collaborate with sales teams to implement monthly marketing and trade marketing (TM) activities in assigned countries within planned budgets
    • Champion brand ownership, aligning with the company s vision, mission, goals and strategies
    • Translate brand strategies into actionable plans, ensuring effective brand positioning and go-to-market execution
    • Lead brand launches, ensuring alignment with company objectives and timelines
    • Monitor the performance of marketing campaigns, evaluate ROI and track KPIs
    • Conduct market trend analysis, research consumer insights and assess competitor activities to uncover growth opportunities
    • Oversee marketing and advertising efforts to maintain consistency with the product line strategy
    • Ensure 100% adherence to established systems and processes
  2. Business development
    • Manage sales operations across assigned markets to drive growth
    • Expand product range within existing distributor accounts and identify new distributors in emerging markets
    • Formulate and implement sales strategies to improve top-line performance
    • Lead sales teams to generate new opportunities through networking, inbound inquiries and outbound outreach
    • Facilitate country entry and distribution expansion strategies in emerging markets
    • Drive sales process automation and establish strong sales frameworks across markets
    • Strengthen penetration into key accounts and monitor receivables to ensure efficient credit control
    • Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual sales forecasts while maintaining country-level performance reporting
    • Optimise gross and net margins in alignment with budgetary goals
    • Monitor manpower productivity and utilisation of country budgets
    • Manage product registrations with regulatory bodies such as municipalities and FDA, as relevant to local markets
    • Ensure compliance with trading policies, payment protocols and currency regulations in collaboration with the finance team
    • Adhere to local health and safety laws and corporate policies
    • Maintain a dynamic MIS system to monitor distributor stocks, secondary sales and inventory replacement to maintain high fill rates
    • Collaborate on shipping schedules, credit control mechanisms, licenses and safety documentation to ensure timely and accurate administration
    • Plan and execute cost reductions for freight, insurance and forwarding expenses
Who are we looking for?
Education
  • MBA/PGPM degree from a recognised university (preferred)
  • A degree in Marketing or Sales is highly preferred
Experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in Sales, Marketing, or Trade Marketing roles
  • Demonstrated success as a Brand Manager, Business Development Manager, or Trade Marketing professional
  • Proven expertise in FMCG sales and distribution operations
Skills
  • Strong ability to conceptualise and execute brand and marketing strategies while effectively communicating with senior management
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in data-driven decision-making
  • Up-to-date knowledge of marketing trends and industry best practices
  • High proficiency in managing numbers, metrics and spreadsheets
