Senior Software Engineer

At GoDaddy the future of work looks different for each team. Some teams work in the office full-time; others have a hybrid arrangement (they work remotely some days and in the office some days) and some work entirely remotely.

This is a hybrid position. You ll divide your time between working remotely from your home and an office, so you should live within commuting distance. Hybrid teams may work in-office as much as a few times a week or as little as once a month or quarter, as decided by leadership. As the Partners Experience team, we build and maintain product experiences and capabilities for Web Designers and Developers (WDD). We are looking for a motivated software engineer to join us in our journey to build and scale our experience capabilities that deliver world-class tools to manage WordPress, Hosting, Security and pro tools. What youll get to do...

• Maintain the existing application stack that make up ManageWP (WordPress) product. These include AngularJS based frontend, PHP APIs, MySQL databases, RabbitMQ/SQS queues and other minor technologies used in additional functionality. They also include AWS and Datacentre infrastructure along with deployment tools and scripts. Maintenance will include strengthening our security posture, creating fault tolerance, improving observability and release pipelines.
• Modernise the application stack to simplify architecture using modern technology choices: PHP, NodeJS (Typescript), React - deployed to AWS.
• Work with product management team and Hub engineering team to increase revenue for WDD by leveraging existing capabilities from other teams (Hub, Security, Hosting), improving the user interface and workflows within the application and providing new capabilities.
• Architect and implement scalable and innovative solutions by identifying and tackling opportunities in complex systems, and making trade-offs between balancing new technology, providing incremental business value, and simplifying our platform.
• Support and mentor engineers in the team to improve in their skills.
• Contribute to the broader Partner Experience team efforts by participating in tech leaders forums to influence experience platform decisions and solving broader system and infrastructure problems in the team.

Your experience should include...

• At least 6 years of full stack software development experience.
• Proficient in PHP and JavaScript languages and technologies like NodeJS, React/Angular, and Symfony/Laravel.
• Working with AWS and understands how to deploy applications to cloud infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of building fault tolerant systems (observability practices, operational excellence).
• Working with queueing systems like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQS.
• Working with high traffic systems that are mission critical to business.
• Exposure to containerisation using technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.

You might also have...

• Knowledge of principles for high-performance design, including optimisation of JavaScript bundles, improving application rendering for Google Web Vitals and techniques for sharing modules across teams.
• Experiment driven mindset: approach solving new problems iteratively to meet customer expectations.
• Experience in contributing to open-source projects.
