Job Summary
The Desktop Engineer is responsible for providing technical support, maintaining hardware and
software systems, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring optimal performance of desktops, laptops,
and other IT assets. They play a vital role in maintaining an organizations IT infrastructure and
delivering excellent customer service to end users.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support
1. Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues on desktops, laptops, and
peripherals (e.g., printers, scanners).
2. Provide remote and on-site technical assistance to users for IT-related issues Coordinating
with the head Office team.
3. Set up and configure new hardware, operating systems, and software applications make
ready for the new joiners and existing employees.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
4. Install and update operating systems, drivers, and system patches and do routine checks.
5. Perform regular system checks and preventive maintenance on desktops and laptops.
6. Handle BIOS settings, RAID configuration, and AHCI troubleshooting.
7. Monitor the performance of IT systems and troubleshoot performance issues and utilization
of the software and the Hardware.
Asset Management
8. Prepare and maintain an inventory of IT assets, including desktops, laptops, and peripherals.
9. Document hardware replacements, software installations, and troubleshooting steps.
Network & Security
10. Ensure desktops are properly connected to the network, resolving any connectivity issues.
11. Assist in configuring and troubleshooting Active Directory (AD) and user account issues.
12. Implement and monitor security measures like antivirus updates, Patches and system
encryption.
Collaboration
13. Coordinate with other IT teams to address escalated issues.
14. Creating tickets, work with vendors for hardware repairs, warranty claims, and service
contracts.
Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
• Proficiency in installing and troubleshooting Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems.
• Hands-on experience with BIOS, AHCI, RAID configurations, and system imaging tools.
• Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and remote desktop tools and ticketing
tools.
• Familiarity with hardware diagnostics and tools.
Soft Skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively.
Qualifications
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST),
(MSCA) or equivalent are a plus.
Work Environment
• Office-based with occasional on-site support.
• Flexible working hours to resolve urgent issues.
