Candidate Industry Experience in defence and humanitarian procurement experience preferred, General Trading

Job Overview:

The Procurement Specialist will play a pivotal role in sourcing, evaluating, and managing suppliers to ensure timely delivery of quality products and services to our esteemed clients, including UN Missions, US Embassies, Oil & Gas Industries and US Defence Contractors. The individual will ensure compliance with international standards, company policies, and contractual requirements while maintaining cost efficiency and high satisfaction levels.

1. Sourcing and Supplier Management

• Identify and qualify reliable suppliers, distributors, and resellers.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with authorized distributors.
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings.
• Evaluate supplier performance regularly to ensure consistency in quality and delivery.

2. Procurement Process Management

• Analyse client requirements and source products that meet specifications and standards.
• Prepare and process purchase orders, requisitions, and contract agreements.
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure alignment with client needs and timelines.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, industry regulations, and ethical practices.

3. Quality Assurance

• Verify that all sourced products meet quality standards and client specifications.
• Collaborate with suppliers to resolve any issues related to defects or warranty claims.

4. Logistics and Delivery Coordination

• Plan and coordinate delivery schedules to meet client deadlines.
• Liaise with logistics teams to ensure smooth delivery.

Preferred candidate profile

Key Skills and Qualifications:

Required Skills:

• Strong knowledge of procurement processes and supply chain management.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to evaluate suppliers and products critically.

Preferred Experience:

• Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a general trading company or government contracting.
• Experience sourcing for UN Missions, US Embassies, Oil & Gas Industries and US Defence Contractors.
• Knowledge of international trade regulations, shipping, and customs procedures.

Education:

• Bachelors degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• Certification in procurement (e.g., CIPC, CIPP, CIPM) is a plus.
