POSITION SUMMARY:

Defense - Perimeter:

The Team Leader for Cyber Security Perimeter will be a technical subject matter expert for all firewall and WAF related topics and requests. In addition, will provide guidance and direction to other team members for any security related events/ incidents in high pressure situations. The team lead must display extensive proficiency and technical knowledge of cybersecurity pertaining to firewalls, threats, event logs, other security tools and cyber security methodologies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Lead a team of associates responsible for the execution of features, tools, and/or technologies associated with Garmins agile scrum teams.
• Effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels within the organization to ensure mitigate cyber security risks in the environment.
• Directly supervise team members with daily regular interactions, including managing teams workload, performance reviews and performance management
• Oversee training and mentoring of new associates
• Monitor progress of the team in meeting deliverables and schedule compliance
• Provide operational leadership for day-to-day activities and strategic direction
• Research and recommend new technologies to meet the business needs
• Plan and schedule work, including the allocation of resources and planning team members’ work
• Develop and continuously improve the way in which IT solutions are delivered
• Participate as needed or as required in regular or special meetings of the Cyber team to address their strategies, their integration, their progress and/or issues needing promotion of problem solving.
• Motivate team to achieve optimum results and productivity quality and performance
• Able to discern when to escalate issues to management
• Maintain team alignment with the manager and department
• Maintain, improve, and extend existing software
• Set the tone for the team environment and build healthy team relationships.
• Recruit, develop, and retain a high performing team
• Manage expenses, participate in budgeting process, and cultivate vendor relationships for any software or tools owned by the team in alignment with manager and/or director.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in managing and occasionally working out of a support queue
• Planning and executing multi-faceted large scale and enterprise-wide security projects in accordance with established policies, regulations, and industry best practices

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or another relevant field AND a minimum of 4 years relevant experience OR a Master of Science Degree in one of the fields noted above AND a minimum of 2 years relevant experience OR equivalent years of experience.
• Highly proficient in perimeter, event logs and other security tools
• Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a small team setting
• Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
• Driven problem solver with proven success in solving difficult problems
• Excellent time management and follow-up skills
• Consistently demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization
• Previous experience in management or leadership
