About the Role:

The Lead Drafting Designer leads a team of drafting professionals to produce high quality, accurate, and detailed technical drawings for various projects, such as architecture, engineering, construction, or product design. The role involves managing drafting activities, reviewing designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and working closely with engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to achieve project goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

Lead and manage a team of draftsmen and junior designers, providing guidance and mentoring to ensure the quality and accuracy of technical drawings.

Assign tasks to team members, track progress, and ensure timely delivery of design documents.

Conduct regular team meetings to discuss project requirements, challenges, and timelines.

Drafting and Design:

Oversee the creation of detailed technical drawings, floor plans, sections, elevations, and schematics using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD 3d Modelling Rendering).

Ensure that designs and drawings comply with project specifications, industry standards, and building codes.

Collaborate with engineers, architects, or project managers to incorporate technical specifications into drafts.

Quality Control and Review:

Review design work submitted by team members, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project requirements.

Perform quality checks and make revisions to drawings as needed.

Ensure designs are optimized for functionality, safety, and cost-effectiveness.

Project Coordination:

Collaborate with other departments (e.g., engineering, construction, procurement) to ensure that designs are practical, feasible, and aligned with the project goals.

Assist in preparing project documentation and presentations for clients or stakeholders.

Help resolve design-related issues by providing technical solutions and alternatives.

Training and Development:

Mentor junior draftsmen and designers, providing training in CAD software, drafting standards, and industry best practices.

Stay updated on advancements in drafting software, technology, and industry trends, incorporating these into design processes when applicable. Client and Stakeholder Communication:

Liaise with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to understand design needs, gather feedback, and incorporate revisions into the drawings.

Assist in presenting design concepts or revisions to clients and obtaining approvals.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor s degree or equivalent in drafting, architecture, engineering, or a related field. Certification in CAD software or design tools may be preferred.

Experience: 5-6 years of experience in drafting or design, with a proven track record of managing teams and projects. Skills:

Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Sketchup, Vray, Any rendering Software).

Strong understanding of design principles, architectural or engineering standards, and building codes.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Strong leadership and project management abilities.

Key Skills:

Advanced CAD drafting skills and software expertise.

Ability to manage and mentor a team effectively.

Exceptional communication skills for client and team interactions.

Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

Experience in quality control and revision management.

Work Environment:

Office-based, with occasional site visits for project inspection or measurement.

Collaboration with engineers, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders.

The role may require working on multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines without compromising quality.
