Technical Services Engineer

• MySQL and Maria DB:Skills: Knowledge of MySQL & Maria DB database administration, architecture, design, and performance considerationsAbility to write SQL queriesFamiliarity with MySQL & Maria DB database monitoring tools, management of the components involved
• Ability to troubleshoot, repair database infrastructure issues and maintenance of MySQL & Maria DB database software

Responsibilities:

• Database administration: Maintain, configure, patch and upgrade the MySQL & Maria DB database server
• Troubleshooting: Resolve issues with the MySQL & Maria DB database, including performance issues, deadlocks, and blocking
• Security: Implement security controls, such as backup and disaster recovery strategies, to protect against unauthorized access
• Documentation: Write and maintain documentation for the database, including platform specifications and procedures
• Performance tuning: Optimize the performance of the database, including SQL queries
• Database design: Design and create database objects, such as data tables, views, and stored procedures in MySQL & Maria DB
• Data migration: Migrate data, including backing up, restoring, and recovering data
• Monitoring: Monitor MySQL & Maria DB database for performance issues and potential threats
• Collaboration: Work with development teams to support and promote products and features
• Communication: Communicate with technical, applications, and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security

Optional Skills:

• Knowledge on either of the technologies MS- SQL /PostgreSQL /Oracle could be an added advantage
