Sr Quality Engineer

The quality engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability of Ford products and for implementing the Ford & applicable government standards across designated vendors and manufacturers.

The quality engineer will function as a bridge between Ford and supplier engineering, production, and quality teams to enable defect-free products and services, from concept /prototype stage through production builds, while overseeing supplier manufacturing processes, logistics and SCM processes.

• B. E. /B. Tech. Electronics, Electrical, instrumentation, Mechanical or Production Engineering
• 5+ years of experience electronics manufacturing, electro-mechanical assemblies, and box builds, preferably in EMS or ODM environment.
• Experience in owning quality for complete products is necessary.
• Ability to read & interpret technical specifications, product drawings, mfg. instruction drawings and statistical data.
• Proficiency in IPC standards, Testing and inspection of PCBA s, PCBA manufacturing processes.
• Exposure to in mechanical components (e. g. , injection molded parts, wire harness assemblies) and box-build products (full assembly) quality management is desirable.
• Experience in Quality tools such as SPC, 8D, Ishikawa, 5-Why, SPC, Pareto, Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke, Measurement System Analyses, and PFMEA is necessary.
• Exposure to In-process QA and EOL quality management is desirable.
• Experience in performing component failure analyses.
• Experience in APQP and PPAP, Knowledge of TS16949 is an advantage.
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e. g. , ISO-16750, IEC, UL standards)
• MS Office proficiency, technical report, and summary writing

• Perform supplier audits, APQP and PPAP activities.
• Support prototype through production runs at required quality levels and applicable standards.
• Review supplier mfg. processes, work instructions and documents for continuous improvement
• Review and maintain supplier quality, yield, and performance metrics.
• Support and own quality issues and corrective actions, including RCAs.
• Collate and maintain relevant quality documentation such as PFMEA, MSA, inspection reports, ECR/ECNs, supplier RCAs, 8D, warranty claims and failure analyses etc.
• Training & development of suppliers and engineering team on relevant quality topics / metrics.
• Support new product development / improvement initiatives with quality inputs, own continuous improvement projects where applicable.
• Effectively communicate inside /outside the organization
