Role & responsibilities

We are seeking a strategic and results-oriented AVP - Credit to lead our credit assessment and underwriting processes. This role is pivotal in managing our credit portfolio, designing new loan products, and ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in credit risk management, a strong analytical mindset, and excellent leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Credit Strategy Development: Formulate and implement credit strategies that align with the company objectives, focusing on sustainable growth and risk mitigation.
• Loan Appraisal Oversight: Lead the appraisal and assessment of digital and physical loan proposals, particularly within the unsecured loans category, ensuring thorough risk evaluation.
• Product Design and Improvement: Design and continuously refine loan products and schemes based on market trends, competitive analysis, and customer feedback.
• Credit Evaluation Processes: Establish and oversee processes for evaluating new credit requests, including conducting client credit checks and making approval or denial decisions based on company standards.
• Policy Finalization: Finalize credit policies and procedures to ensure efficient and high-quality underwriting across all loan applications.
• Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor the credit team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability while promoting professional development.
• Collaboration with Business Units: Work closely with business teams to structure and execute transactions that meet client requirements while adhering to regulatory frameworks.
• Credit Monitoring and Follow-Up: Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive credit monitoring strategies to ensure proactive communication with clients regarding repayment schedules and outstanding balances
• Debt Recovery Management: Define and oversee strategies for initiating legal actions against clients who default on repayment terms, as well as managing the resolution of irreconcilable debts.
• Reporting and Analysis: Prepare timely reports for senior management, including insights on loan performance, credit control effectiveness, and recommendations for improvement.
• Stakeholder Communication: Maintain regular communication with clients and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and address any issues related to credit management.

Preferred candidate profile

• Masters Degree in Finance or a related field; Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Mathematics is preferred.
• Minimum 10+ years of experience in credit risk management, with a strong background in an NBFC or banking environment.
• Comprehensive understanding of digital lending processes, credit assessment methodologies, and regulatory compliance.
• Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage and develop high-performing teams.
• Strong analytical skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong drafting abilities.
• Impeccable attention to detail, particularly with financial data and documentation.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and thrive under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Familiarity with technology solutions that enhance credit assessment and monitoring processes.
