About the Job :
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Linux Administrator with a strong focus on Red Hat Linux to join our team on a part-time basis. This role requires providing on-site support to our clients for 10 full days per month.
The ideal candidate possesses 7-8 years of hands-on experience in Linux server administration, troubleshooting, optimization, and client interaction. This is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned professional looking for a flexible, yet impactful role.
Position Overview :
As a part-time Linux Administrator, you will be the primary point of contact for our clients' Linux infrastructure needs.
You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and optimal performance of their Red Hat Linux environments.
This involves regular on-site visits, proactive system monitoring, timely issue resolution, and effective communication with client stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities :
Client Visits and On-Site Support (10 days/month) :
- Travel to client locations as scheduled (10 days per month) to provide direct Linux administration services.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with client IT teams and key personnel.
- Proactively address client issues, minimizing downtime and maximizing system performance.
Provide expert consultation and guidance on Linux-related best practices.
Linux Server Administration :
- Install, configure, and maintain Red Hat Linux servers, ensuring security and stability.
- Perform regular system updates, patches, and upgrades using appropriate change management procedures.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and security policies.
- Configure and maintain essential services such as web servers (Apache, Nginx), databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL), and mail servers.
System Monitoring and Troubleshooting :
- Implement and utilize monitoring tools to proactively identify and address potential issues.
- Diagnose and resolve technical problems related to hardware, software, and network configurations.
- Perform root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues.
- Escalate complex problems to appropriate internal or external resources as needed.
Backup and Recovery Management :
- Implement and manage robust backup and recovery solutions to protect client data.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans, ensuring business continuity in the event of a system failure.
- Regularly test backup and recovery procedures to validate their effectiveness.
Documentation and Reporting :
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of system configurations, troubleshooting steps, and maintenance activities.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on system health, performance, and security posture to clients and management.
- Contribute to internal knowledge sharing by documenting best practices and lessons learned.
Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing :
- Collaborate effectively with client IT teams, providing training and knowledge transfer as required.
- Share technical expertise and best practices with colleagues.
- Proactively suggest system improvements and optimization strategies to clients.
Qualifications and Skills :
Education :
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
Certifications :
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) is mandatory.
Experience :
- Minimum of 7-8 years of hands-on experience in Linux system administration, with a strong focus on Red Hat Linux.
Technical Skills :
- Deep understanding of Linux operating systems, including kernel management, file systems, and networking.
- Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash, Python) for automation and system administration tasks.
- Expertise in server management tools and techniques.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e., VMware, KVM) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
- Solid understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), firewalls (iptables, firewalld), and security best practices.
- Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef) is a plus.
