Role & responsibilities

- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of designers and packaging engineers, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement, and empowering team members to achieve their full potential.

- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, quality, sales, and marketing, to enable the company to close loops to secure the orders.

- Creative Leadership: Provide creative vision and direction for industrial packaging design projects, leveraging your expertise to develop innovative solutions that address client needs and market trends.

- Client Collaboration: Partner with clients to understand their unique packaging challenges, technical requirements, and business objectives, and translate insights into actionable design strategies and concepts.

- Design Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies, materials, and processes in the industrial packaging industry, and integrate them into the design process to drive innovation, efficiency, and competitive advantage.

- Sustainability Focus: Champion sustainability initiatives and best practices in packaging design, incorporating eco-friendly materials, recyclability, and circular economy principles into design solutions to minimize environmental impact.

- Technical Expertise: Apply your technical knowledge of materials, structural design principles, and manufacturing processes to develop packaging solutions that meet performance requirements, regulatory standards, and cost targets.

• Ensuring relevant drawing are available for all the SKU approved. Will be responsible for approving all the design concepts, drawings and adding value for all existing products. All packaging design must be ratified based on certain risk analysis and proof of concepts.
• Should be familiar with ISO documentations required for design development. Well versed with BOM & costings and ability to find defects in the BOM created by team

Preferred candidate profile

As a manager of our design & innovation teams, you will play a pivotal role in motivating and encouraging internal and external design & innovation teams. Ensuring structural drawings and designs, cost estimates & Bom are produced on time, to a high quality, and are easy to decipher. Overseeing the design process using technical expertise to optimize the material utilization, ease of manufacturing and standardization to the maximum extent. You will collaborate with Sales & CRM team, clients, and manufacturing teams & partners to conceptualize, design, and deliver innovative packaging solutions that meet functional requirements of clients and while ensuring alignment with industry standards, regulatory compliance, and sustainability goals, optimize logistics, and enhance brand visibility.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in industrial design, packaging engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.

- Extensive experience (15 years) in a manager role within the industrial packaging industry, structural design and allied handling a team of 5 direct reportees and 10 indirect reportees. From a company having a turnover of 200 cr plus with a proven track record of delivering innovative packaging solutions for diverse applications alternately from a manufacturing industry with exposure to packaging.

- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., 3D SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc) and, with strong technical drawing and visualization skills.

- Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage complex projects, and prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment.

- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

- Understanding of packaging materials, manufacturing processes, and supply chain dynamics, with a focus on optimizing packaging performance, cost, and sustainability.

- Passion for innovation, problem-solving, and creative thinking, with a demonstrated ability to translate customer insights and market trends into actionable design solutions.

- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development, with a proactive approach to staying updated on industry developments, technological advancements, and design trends.

Travel

We have 9 locations spread across the country and would require travel to locations and client sites.

Being Multilingual would be an added advantage.
