Garment Technician (Temporary Role)

1. Create specification sheets: Make measurement and construction sheets based on a design sketch or sample recieved. Besides good technical skills, this also requires good English communication skills( especially written)

2.Pattern making: Intermediate pattern making skills so as to be able to instruct pattern makers to do the necessary corrections in patterns where fit issue arises.

3.Pattern grading: Grading is making patterns from one size to another size by increasing and decreasing measurements in certain points of the patterns.

4.Sample development: Garment technician need to have the skills to helps designers and sampling merchants in developing development samples.

5.Garment FIT checking, quality report making and correction of patterns : The most important task of a technician is to make sure the patterns fits the model body or dress form properly. A technician needs to knows where the problem lies if a garment does not fit to a dress form. S/he gets the pattern corrected accordingly. Also technician should have the necessary English communication skills to generate quality reports after reviewing pre products samples like proto, size set and PP.

6. Incorporate merchandiser/designers comments on samples: Sometimes merchandisers or designers changes measurement specification and adds comments on the sample. All changes in pattern are done by technical with assistance from pattern maker.

7. Take care of product design and make it production friendly Some times designer who designs sample for bulk order, don't consider construction points related to production. On that situation, the technician takes care of those critical points to make sample is production-friendly.
