Our client, a Leading Diversified business group venturing into container glass manufacturing is looking out for a Project Procurement Manager to be based at Odisha.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Project Procurement Manager to oversee project procurement activities for our Container Glass Plant. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of technical knowledge and commercial acumen, particularly in negotiating contracts with international suppliers. This mid-level managerial role will also require expertise in international shipping, understanding of Letters of Credit (LC), and proficiency in documentation processes. The Project Procurement Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of equipment and services while navigating customs clearance with handling agents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procurement Strategy Development: Formulate and implement procurement strategies aligned with project objectives, ensuring optimal quality standards.
- International Supplier Negotiation: Lead negotiations with international suppliers, focusing on securing favorable terms and conditions while fostering long-term relationships.
- Technical Competence: Collaborate with engineering and production teams to understand technical specifications and requirements for materials and equipment.
- Shipping and Documentation: Co-ordinate logistics for international shipments, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and maintaining thorough documentation for smooth transit.
- Letter of Credit Management: Understand and work with Finance team for issuance and management of Letters of Credit, ensuring all contractual obligations are met and risks are minimized.
- Customs Coordination: Work closely with customs handling agents to ensure timely customs clearance of equipment and materials, addressing any issues that may arise.
- Vendor Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key vendor partners to enhance collaboration and improve procurement outcomes.
- Industry Development Tracking: Stay informed about industry trends, market developments, and emerging technologies to leverage insights in procurement strategies.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments for procurement activities and develop mitigation strategies to address potential issues.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless integration of procurement activities into project timelines.
- Performance Monitoring: Track and report on procurement performance metrics, providing insights for continuous improvement.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and guide junior procurement staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence within the team.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, CIPS) is a plus.
- Experience: 7-10 years of relevant experience in procurement for within the glass industry, with at least 5 years in a managerial role focused on international procurement. An experience of greenfield plant setup will be a huge plus.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of technical specifications related to container glass production and associated equipment.
- Contract Negotiation: Proven track record in negotiating contracts with international suppliers, with a solid grasp of international trade terms and conditions.
- Shipping and Customs Expertise: Familiarity with international shipping processes, customs regulations, and documentation requirements, including coordination with customs handling agents.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in procurement software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
