Job Purpose:-
This role holder has the responsibility for overseeing and optimizing the company's Direct taxation strategy and compliance. The role holder will ensure the organization's Direct tax liabilities are managed efficiently, compliance with relevant tax regulations is maintained, and to provide strategic tax guidance that aligns with the company's financial goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:-
- Managerial Responsibility:- Recruitment of staff in Finance team as per the business requirement
- Managing performance of team members; counselling & coaching team members from time to time to improve their performance
- Team engagement & retention of talent
- Train, and mentor team members, fostering a culture of learning and development within the team
Functional Responsibility
Strategic Role:
- Ensure effective communication of departmental objectives across the organization such that a clear line of sight is created between individual jobholders and the departmental objectives
- Develop and implement comprehensive tax strategies aligned with the company's financial objectives
- Provide strategic guidance on tax implications for business decisions and initiatives
- Identify and mitigate potential tax risks by staying abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations
Overseeing Regulatory Reporting &Direct Taxation Department:
- Execute a framework to test if the internal systems supporting compliance with regulatory requirements are properly designed, documented, and implemented and include appropriate governance and data quality controls
- Ensure that tax and regulatory supervisions are taken care of in a proper manner such that they ensure the organization's compliance is in line with the expected level
- Ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations at the national and regional levels
- Oversee the preparation and filing of accurate and timely tax returns
- Ensure zero financial risk to the company in terms of interest or penalties due to non-compliance with various statutory / regulatory laws (Taxation, IRDAI, SEBI, etc.)
- Ensure that transfer pricing documentation is compliant with regulatory requirements
Process Improvement and Initiatives:
- Research revenue opportunities and economic trends, analyze internal operations, identify areas of cost reduction and process enhancement
- Oversee the month-end close process, constantly review procedures while eliminating inefficiencies
- Recommend improvements to ensure integrity in the financial information of the organization
- Collaborate with other departments to improve cost-effectiveness and optimize financial resources
- Compliance & Good Governance
- Accurate & error free record keeping of transactions and ensuring time to time reporting to the Management, Board & Regulators
Stakeholder Relations:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, external auditors, regulatory authorities, and investors
- Work closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate tax accounting and reporting
- Implement robust controls to ensure the integrity of tax-related financial data
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, finance, and operations, to ensure tax considerations are integrated into business decisions
Leadership and Team Management:
- Provide strong leadership to the finance and accounting teams, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
- Mentor and develop finance professionals, encouraging their growth and ensuring a high level of expertise within the team
Qualification & Experience:- 12+ Years of exp in Direct Taxation preferred from big4 companies/ insurance/banking
Qualifications -
- Education - Chartered Accountant (CA)
Experience -
- Minimum 12 years' experience is a prerequisite for this role, experience in a Direct Taxation leadership role is preferred.

- Expertise in Knowledge of Insurance Fundamentals, Products & Processes
- Expertise in Business Accounting & Financial Planning
- Expertise in Regulatory Reporting, Shareholder Reporting
- Expertise in Business Analytics, Business Planning & Forecasting
- Digital Readiness - Expertise in working on MS Office & Android / Apple Platforms
