Job Description:
The Accountant will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations at our manufacturing plant in Chennai. This role includes managing financial reporting, budgeting, cost control, and compliance with corporate policies and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate and timely financial data to support decision-making and contribute to the plant's overall financial health.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and oversee general ledger accounts, journal entries, and reconciliation activities for the plant.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports, ensuring accuracy and adherence to corporate policies.
- Develop and manage plant budgets, forecasting financial requirements, and monitoring cash flow.
- Analyze manufacturing costs, recommend cost control measures, and support cost reduction initiatives.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure the timely and accurate recording of financial data.
- Manage payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets for the plant.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide insights to management on cost performance.
- Support compliance with all tax, statutory, and internal audit requirements.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory compliance.
- Assist in preparing reports for management and stakeholders as required.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Financial Accuracy: Achieve 100% accuracy in monthly financial reporting.
- Timeliness: Submit all financial reports by the established deadlines (monthly, quarterly, and annual).
- Cost Control: Maintain plant expenses within 5% of the forecasted budget.
- Compliance: Ensure 100% compliance with corporate policies and regulatory standards.
- Inventory Reconciliation: Complete and report inventory reconciliations monthly without discrepancies.
- Audit Results: Achieve satisfactory results with minimal audit findings in internal and external audits.
- Variance Analysis: Deliver detailed variance analysis and cost control recommendations within 5 business days of month-end.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a CA or CPA qualification is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in accounting software (SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems) and MS Excel.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights.
- Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with Indian tax laws, GST, and regulatory standards relevant to manufacturing.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with various departments.
- Attention to Detail: High degree of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting.
