POSITION SUMMARY:

Essential functions:

We are looking for strong technologists who enjoy working on cross-functional teams and are passionate about what they do. Some responsibilities are:

• Developing APIs, which are scalable, supportable, and reliable that service the entire Garmin ecosystem.
• Designing, building, deploying, supporting, and training peers for a CDN, HTTP Streaming, ABR Formats, VOD Content, CDN Assisted VOD Platform, Edge Caches, MID Caches, Origin, Content Routing, Traffic Ops, Traffic Monitoring, InfluxDB, Stats Server, Content Health Monitor, Delivery Services, Content Federation, Persistent Storage for partitions, Ram Cache, Apache Traffic Server, Make Doc's documentation server
• Participating in the full lifecycle of development from conception, analysis, design,implementation, testing and deployment
• Working with developers across the globe on cutting edge technologies including microservices and big data/noSQL
• Working in an agile environment delivering code frequently to production, so you get to see what you build in action quickly
• Working on big scalability challenges that lend to looking at new technologies and ways of doing things
• Developing cloud native applications using modern frameworks such as Spring/Spring Boot, Java, etc.
• Designs, enhances and develops single and multi-system applications written in Java
• Provides solutions for complex software problems for existing applications Maintains, improves, and extends existing software with limited assistance from other associates
• Works collaboratively and professionally in a team environment to determine general approach and specific solutions to technical problems
• Reviews complex tasks for soundness of technical judgment and overall adequacy and accuracy
• Works with Garmin IT Analysts to develop and implement unit and system testing processes for single or multi system projects
• Demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization

Experience and skills required:

Graduated in technical discipline or equivalent professional experience in computer science (BE/B.Tech/M.Tech/MCA/M.Sc) and a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR Master of Science Degree in any of the fields noted above AND a minimum of 3 years relevant Experience. Fluency in English is required. Qualified candidates will also demonstrate proficiency with:

• Basic server design and debugging experience
• Strong java skills and Spring experience and any Cloudflare or Akamai experience.
• Ability to turn feature requests into technical designs Willingness to take initiative and work independently while also collaborating in a team environment Knowledge and experience with REST
• Understanding of relational data fundamentals. Experience with big data and Elasticsearch is also a plus
• Previous relevant experience with HBase or SQL Server is highly desirable Experience with test tools like JUnit, Arquillian, JMeter, etc.
• Good communication skills with both technical and non-technical team members
• Demonstrated experience in successful implementation of technology solutions
• Must demonstrate proficiency and possess experience necessary to designs, enhances and develops single and multi-system applications
• Must possess demonstrated programming experience using Java, Spring (we use Boot, Cloud, Data, MVC), JavaScript, CSS and any one skill from Vue Js or Angular or React
• Ideally should have experience with the following technologies, tools/frameworks: Cloudflare, OWASP ruleset + optimization, Cloudflare Firewall + rate limit and application DDoS policies, Cloudflare page rules and transform rules + custom solutions, bot management solutions and threat scoring optimizations, Cloudflare SSL Certificate options and management, Cloudflare SSL for SaaS Cloudflare DNS Management, etc.
• Solving networking, DNS, and HTTP problems, and interacting with customers.
• Ideally should have experience with some the following tools/frameworks: GIT, JIRA, Jenkins, Bamboo, Bitbucket, Splunk, Kibana, HAProxy, AppDynamics for monitoring, and OAuth
• Experience with Agile-Scrum/Scrumban, Extreme Programming, Jenkins CI/CD pipelines
