Production Engineer

Role & responsibilities

1. Production Planning & Documentation : Review engineering drawings for crane projects to verify specifications and manufacturing requirements. Create and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) and material codes in SAP for accurate tracking of parts and materials. Release production orders for profiling, machining, fabrication, and assembly, ensuring proper allocation to departments and personnel.

2. Fabrication & Welding Oversight : Ensure welding and fabrication processes align with quality standards and safety guidelines, inspecting work at different stages. Review and approve welding procedures, material requirements, and fabrication drawings, collaborating with QA teams for compliance.

3. Procurement & Inventory Management : Generate Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and Purchase Orders (POs) in SAP based on daily production needs and planning schedules. Monitor inventory levels in SAP and at vendor locations to ensure timely availability of all materials required for fabrication, welding, and assembly. Coordinate with suppliers to expedite material deliveries and maintain smooth production flow.

4. Vendor Coordination & Communication : Send approved POs to vendors and confirm acknowledgment for processing. Communicate material requirements, delivery schedules, and stock availability with vendors to ensure adequate support for production timelines. Track and update the status of machining and fabricated materials, coordinating closely with suppliers for timely deliveries.

5.Production Order Management : Confirm production orders in SAP, ensuring accuracy in entries, material allocations, and stock movement. Track status of production orders for fabrication and assembly and provide progress updates to management. Resolve discrepancies between production orders and available stock or materials to avoid production delays.

6. Data Management & Reporting : Maintain and update Excel sheets for real time tracking of material statuses, fabrication progress, and vendor stock levels. Generate production and inventory reports for analysis, supporting decision making and identifying areas for process improvement. Participate in review meetings to present production and material status updates, identifying and addressing bottlenecks.
