Job Description
- Review project specifications, drawings and other technical documents to understand project requirements and scope of work.
- Conduct site visits if required and assessments to gather information relevant to project estimation, including existing conditions, access points, and potential challenges.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to develop project proposals that meet client needs and specifications.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for firefighting system projects, including material quantities, labour costs, subcontractor expenses, and overheads.
- Research and analyse market trends, material prices, and labour rates to ensure competitive and accurate estimates.
- Communicate with vendors, subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing and negotiate favourable terms for materials and services.
- Present cost estimates and proposals to clients and participate in bid meetings and negotiations as needed.
- Track and manage the status of proposals and follow up with clients to address any questions or concerns.
- Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure smooth handover of projects from estimation to execution.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in engineering, construction management or a related field, additional certifications in estimating or project management preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in project estimation, preferably in the firefighting system integration industry or related field.
- Strong technical knowledge of fire protection systems, including fire alarms, sprinkler systems, fire suppression systems, and associated equipment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications and technical documents.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to accurately estimate project costs and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, vendors, and team members.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and quality in all aspects of work.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
