Job Overview: As an Academic Counsellor at an overseas education consultancy, your primary responsibility is to guide students through the process of studying abroad. You will provide expert advice, assist in selecting academic programs, and help with the admission process for universities and colleges in different countries. You will be the key point of contact for students, parents, and educational institutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Student Counseling:

• Provide one-on-one and group counseling to students regarding study opportunities abroad.
• Understand student academic background, career goals, and financial situation to recommend suitable programs and universities.
• Help students identify the best course options, university selection, and future career prospects.

University/Program Selection:

• Advise students on universities/colleges that match their academic qualifications, preferences, and budget.
• Stay updated on admission requirements, deadlines, and scholarship opportunities for various international institutions.
• Assist in shortlisting universities or programs according to students aspirations.

Admission Assistance:

• Guide students in completing university applications, including advising on statement of purpose (SOP), recommendation letters, and required documents.
• Help students with the application process for scholarships, financial aid, and visa procedures.
• Ensure timely submission of all required documents and follow up with institutions regarding application status.

Visa Guidance:

• Provide detailed information regarding visa application processes for students aiming to study abroad.
• Assist students in preparing visa documents and guide them through interview processes.

Exam Preparation Guidance:

• Offer counseling on standardized tests such as IELTS, TOEFL, GRE, GMAT, etc., and provide information on preparation courses.
• Advise on the required test scores and eligibility criteria for different countries and programs.

Client Relationship Management:

• Maintain regular communication with students and their families, ensuring they are well-informed about the application process, deadlines, and required documentation.
• Follow up with students to track the progress of their applications and provide timely support as needed.

Marketing and Networking:

• Participate in education fairs, seminars, and workshops to promote the consultancy's services.
• Build and maintain relationships with universities, educational institutions, and other stakeholders in the international education sector.
• Assist in developing and updating marketing materials, including brochures, websites, and social media content.

Documentation & Record-Keeping:

• Maintain accurate student records, ensuring all application materials are up to date.
• Track the progress of each student's application and provide regular updates to both students and their families.

Market Research & Updates:

• Keep abreast of the latest trends in global education, including new universities, courses, scholarships, and changing visa policies.
• Provide feedback and suggestions for improving consultancy services based on student experiences and market demands.
