Role & responsibilities

The SLI Cum Trainer GROW PwD Program role at Dr. Reddy’s Foundation is designed for those who are passionate about working with youth with disabilities to help them develop core employability skills. Below is an overview of the key details for the position:

Objective of the Position

The role aims to train and develop employability skills in unemployed youth with disabilities (who are 10th grade or above) so that they can secure employment in the private sector. The focus is on building core skills like communicative English, digital literacy, soft skills, and interview preparedness.

Core Deliverables

Training Responsibilities

  1. Follow predefined training plans for delivering sessions to identified youth.
  2. Train students on core employability skills as per DRF's curriculum.
  3. Prepare students to confidently attend interviews.
  4. Conduct regular assessments to monitor student progress.
  5. Maintain training-related data and documentation.
  6. Actively engage in center activities, such as organizing parent meetings, retention follow-ups, and gathering training feedback.

Counseling Support

  1. Assist Area Head or counselor during the admission process, particularly by acting as an interpreter.

Employer Collaboration

  1. Assist during employer interviews by acting as an interpreter between students and employers.
  2. Help employers induct selected candidates into their organizations (if no dedicated SLIs are available within the organization).

Additional Operational Support (Optional)

  1. Participate in seminars to mobilize youth.
  2. Prepare center-level reports.
  3. Support employer connections for youth placements.

Required Competencies

Technical Competencies

  1. Proficiency in Indian Sign Language (ISL).
  2. Basic English proficiency.
  3. Knowledge of basic computer operations (e.g., MS Excel).
  4. Ability to train adults, especially those who are hearing-impaired.

Non-Technical Competencies

  1. Strong work ethics and commitment.
  2. Cultural sensitivity and understanding of the deaf community's culture and norms.
  3. Empathy, patience, and understanding toward students.
  4. Openness to innovative training methods for more effective learning outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Educational Qualification: Any Graduation and certified/accredited by a recognized institute in Sign Language.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience working with hearing-impaired individuals, particularly in educational or skill development settings.

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to learn new skills, including proficiency in MS Excel and training methodologies.

This role requires someone with a deep sense of empathy and dedication to empowering youth with disabilities, especially those who are hearing-impaired. The person will have a strong understanding of Indian Sign Language and be able to facilitate communication between students and employers effectively.
