Engineering Manager, Search

About the team

Dialpad s Search Team Engineering Manager will own the information retrieval platform powering our Search experience including indexing pipelines and querying logic to give access to all the various domain entities with the Dialpad platform including contacts, call transcripts, meeting summaries and RAG flows for our virtual assistants. In this role, you ll combine traditional information retrieval techniques with modern semantic vectors and LLM reasoning to build a cutting edge search experience for the business communications industry.

Dialpad s Search team plays an essential role in Product Engineering within the Search & Assist functional area. This team collaborates closely with most product engineering teams and with Dialpad s Ai Org to constantly improve search quality, latency and costs.

Your role

As a Search EM, you ll own the search platform including the search indexes, the indexing pipeline and the query layer. You ll work closely with the NLP & Assist teams to implement rich semantic and conversational experiences using embeddings and LLMs. You ll also help create the conversational AI that powers our chatbots. In addition, you ll help bring low latency and quality to all features that depends on filtering and surfacing information.

This position reports to our Director of engineering for Search & Assist and has the opportunity to be based in our Bengaluru Office. The position will require a hybrid working arrangement based out of our Bengaluru office

• Own the search platform.
• Make Dialpad s data access better and faster.
• Partner with Dialpad Ai Org to finetune and improve all necessary predictive models.
• Research how new technologies can contribute to IR.
