Job Description of an Architect

As an architect the main responsibilities are conceptualizing, planning, and overseeing the construction of buildings, spaces, and other structures. He / She has to typically work in an office setting, but they also need to travel to sites and meet clients. The following duties are:
1. Designing and Planning – Detailed architectural designs and concepts based on client requirements and project specifications. Prepare drawings, blueprints, and 3D models using computer-aided design(CAD) software and other tools.
2. Client and Stakeholder Collaboration - Meet with clients to understand project objectives, budgets, and preferences. Present design proposals (presentations), seek client feedback, and incorporate changes as necessary. Coordinate with MEP engineers, structure engineers, urban planners, landscape architects, and contractors to align design and execution.
3. Regulatory Compliance - Ensure that all designs meet local building codes, zoning laws, and safety regulations. Prepare and submit required documentation for permits and approvals.
4. Project Management - Oversee the construction process to ensure design adherence, quality control, and timely project delivery. Conduct site visits to monitor progress and resolve any on-site challenges. Manage budgets, timelines, and resources to keep the project aligned with initial plans.
Skills and Competencies
Required – AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, MS Office, Creativity and visualization, Communication and Collaboration
Desirable – Revit, Rhino, BIM tools
Qualifications - Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture with minimum experience 2 years.
