Deputy Manager - Balance Sheet Control

The role will involve managing delivery of the monthly financial control close and supporting the design and enhancement of the internal financial control procedures. Co-ordination with a wide range of stakeholders and leading preparation of the monthly control reporting pack. Supporting the delivery of internal and external reporting and any related audit activity.

Role & responsibilities

• Maintaining and enhancing the monthly close as well as account ownership and control processes
• Ensuring a robust control environment underpins the reporting deliverables
• Delivery of timely and accurate management information
• Supporting key Finance and wider Group projects
• Supporting and delivery of external audit engagements
• Building and maintaining strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders

Preferred candidate profile

• Post qualification experience in either Financial Reporting, Financial Regulatory Reporting or Financial Control
• Qualified Accountant ACA or equivalent / MBA Finance only
• Strong control mindset and experience in control framework design
• Experience working for a Publicly listed organization, Asset Manager, PE & Venture Capital or Other Financial Services/Professional Service Firms
• Experience in IFRS16 is mandate

• Fixed Assets

Standardise as far as possible local fixed asset policy to group fixed asset policy

Ensure Fixed Asset Registers and Ledgers are aligned as part of monthly ledger close process

Ensure clearance of Mutli Book Asset clear account every month (in group and local books)

Revisiting/design IT WIP process

• Leases

Maintain monthly lease schedules in compliance with local and group policy

Maintain lease ledger accounts incl. lease deposits on monthly basis

Ensure clearance of lease control account - group and local & aligned

Ensure GL and Lease schedules remains aligned monthly

Track and follow up on expected indexation events

• Month End

Completion of all team owned substantiation processes in line with monthly deadlines

Write-off listing

Management reporting analysis & Imputed interest booking

Monthly VAT control account clearance and reconciliation

Cashflow workings

Completion of applicable group level ONS surveys

Quarterly VAT return review and control account reconciliation

• Ad-hoc

Support SOP updates for the above areas

Build out of workday processes

Support audit requirements

Monthly clearance of prior month actions points arising from Balance Sheet substantiation

Maintain team monthly deliverables log
