PCB QA Engineer

Education qualification:

• Degree or equivalent (Diploma) in an Engineering/Electronics discipline.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and analyse PCB designs, schematics, and layouts to ensure they meet functional, performance, and reliability standards.
• Perform Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Test (DFT), and Design for Assembly (DFA) analysis to optimize PCB manufacturability and reduce production risks.
• Work closely with hardware design engineers to ensure compliance with product design specifications, electrical requirements, and industry standards (e.g., IPC, UL, RoHS).
• Identify potential design flaws or areas for improvement, and propose corrective actions.
• Support root cause analysis under the guidance of senior engineers to troubleshoot and resolve PCB defects.
• Maintain thorough documentation of all design reviews and quality audits.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards such as IPC-A-600 (Acceptability of Printed Boards), IPC-2221 (Generic Standard on PCB Design), and any applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., RoHS, REACH).
• Work with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, PCB layout designers, mechanical engineers, and supply chain teams to ensure that PCB designs are optimized for production.
• Interface with suppliers and manufacturers to address any design-related issues and ensure quality control during fabrication.
• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
• Provide technical support for PCB fabrication and assembly processes, ensuring high-quality production.

Desirable Technical Skills:

• Proficient in PCB design tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, Zuken CR-8000).
• Strong Knowledge on PCB manufacturing processes, including DFM, DFA, and DFT principles.
• Familiarity with industry standards and best practices (e.g., IPC standards, RoHS compliance).
• Knowledge of EMI/EMC design principles to ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Knowledge of quality assurance methodologies like FMEA, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
