We re looking for resourceful candidates to join our Financial Research (FinRes) group based in Hyderabad, India. The role involves working closely with D. E. Shaw Investment Management (DESIM), our institutional asset management group. DESIM builds on the experience and infrastructure of the broader firm to develop and manage active investment strategies that complement our alternative investment strategies.

What you ll do day-to-day

In this role, you ll work closely with front office teams based out of New York across portfolio strategy and trading in the DESIM group. Your primary responsibilities will include providing analytical and research support to portfolio strategists and traders in analyzing our portfolios, performing related market analyses and undertaking quantitative research. You ll work on various areas including recurring and ad-hoc portfolio analysis, conducting thematic research and supporting client-oriented analyses. You ll also be expected to work with traders in creating and supporting trader tools in Excel/Python.

The ideal candidate should have a master s degree in Business Administration, CFA or Business Analytics, with two to six years of experience in quantitative research

The candidate should have experience in quantitative analysis, be proficient in Python, have a keen interest in financial markets and an ability to work with large datasets

Candidate should have a demonstrated ability to develop analytical frameworks to answer questions/solve problems

The candidate should possess high attention to detail, impressive critical thinking, thought leadership and analytical skills

The ideal candidate should have excellent verbal/written communication and skills, and should be able to collaborate with multiple teams/stakeholders

Candidates with relevant experience looking to restart their careers after a break are encouraged to apply for this position.
