Database Adminstrator - PostgreSQL/YugabyteDB (6-10 yrs)

About the Role :

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced PostgreSQL/Yugabyte DBA to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our critical database systems.

You will play a key role in ensuring the availability, performance, and security of our databases, while also providing guidance and support to our development teams.

Key Responsibilities :

Installation and Configuration :

- Strong experience in installing and configuring PostgreSQL/YugabyteDB instances according to best practices and industry standards.

- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve installation-related issues.

- Expertise in setting up Yugabyte X-Cluster, including configuration of replication and sharding/raft topologies.

High Availability and Disaster Recovery :

- Experience in designing and implementing robust disaster recovery (DR) setups.

- Proven track record of conducting successful DR drills.

- Expertise in PostgreSQL logical/streaming replication.

Database Migration :

- Experience in migrating databases, including both homogeneous and heterogeneous migrations.

Database Design and Optimization :

- Expertise in table partitioning (range, list, and hash).

- In-depth knowledge of indexing, keys, and stored procedures.

- Proven ability to tune database performance and optimize query execution.

Automation and Maintenance :

- Experience in automating routine database tasks (i.e., backups, maintenance).

- Proficiency in using data extract tools like export/import.

- Strong understanding of and experience in adhering to database hardening policies.

Security and Auditing :

- Experience in setting up audit policies according to industry best practices.

- Expertise in database patching and major version upgrades.

Cloud Experience :

- Good knowledge of cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, and Azure.

Development Support :

- Provide best practice guidance to development teams on database usage and design.

- Resolve production data issues effectively.

General Database Administration :

- Manage tablespaces, roles, and privileges.

- Develop automation technologies to accelerate data loading processes.

- Ensure data integrity and security.

- Maintain user access and permissions.

- Manage the database using various utilities (i.e., pg_ctl, psql).

- Write and optimize complex SQL queries, functions, and procedures.

Required Skills :

- Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL DBA.

- Good to have experience with YugabyteDB.

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Proactive and results-oriented approach
