ITC Technician

Education and Experience

Education: Diploma in Chemical Engineering / Polymer / Plastic Engineering with 4-5 years of experience in Testing and evaluation in analytical lab, master's in chemistry with 1-2 years of experience in Analytical / Electrochemical technology

Professional experience: Preferably in Chemical / Petrochemical / Polymer / Engineering Industries.

Languages: Gujarati preferable, Hindi and English

Know-how: Materials handling and good stock management practices.

Responsibilities

Safety

- Understand the importance of conformance with the environmental & safety policies and Comply with all environmental, safety, and health rules, Quality policies, and programs established by the company.

- Understand the potential consequences of deviation from specified operating procedures and immediately report any accidents to the Quality Manager.

- Responsible for maintaining effective 5S, effective laboratory waste management, good laboratory and all equipments in safe condition.

- Responsible for promoting safe culture and work behaviors in laboratory.

Expectations

To execute day to day operational activities by following standard operating procedures and work-related instructions in safe and compliant manner.

Accountability

• Fundamental scientific and electrochemical characterization of materials (polymers, ceramics, glass, silica, oil, different composites etc.) used in lead acid batteries and develop a complete database of materials and separators.
• Design, fabrication and assembly of electrochemical cells and test vehicles for separators and validate set ups through thorough experimentation.
• Fabrication and testing of lead acid single cells and batteries using existing and new separators.
• Manage ITC facility to a functioning order in terms of safety, functionality, test procedures, standards, test reports etc.
• Fabrication of separators in pilot lab as and when necessary.
• Coordinate and cooperate with the team and support Senior Engineer in all expected deliverables.

Role & responsibilities

• Perform analytical and electrochemical testing of separators and characterization of technological challenges concerning lead acid batteries relevant to separators.
• Compile test results and build a knowledge base to be used by the whole organization.
• Build and maintain a high-class ITC centre for separator characterization, enhancement, and new product development through procuring the right equipment sets, operating and maintaining them, and hiring talented workforce.
• Design and create experimental procedures, and methodologies.
• Build the needed test rigs and ensure proper functioning of set ups and lab capabilities.
• Operation and maintenance of different separator characterization tools, analyse results, report out to product and technology teams globally.
• Solve issues through new separator materials, designs, processes etc., by working with product specialists.
• Conduct failure analysis and analyse device failure data to determine root causes of issues and develop and implement solutions.
• Purchase new equipment, peripherals, cells, etc., as needed and commission and maintain the facility in order.
• Work in association with engineers and technicians to process raw materials, fabricate final components, and develop and test novel materials and chemistries for separators.
• Must be able to identify equipment needed for testing and design / repair test fixtures as required.
• Report project progress on a monthly basis and generate reports
