Senior Architect - Design

Position Overview:

The Senior Architect plays a pivotal role in leading the architectural vision for projects within a construction development company. This position focuses on designing innovative, functional, and market-driven spaces while ensuring feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with project goals. The Senior Architect collaborates closely with internal teams, consultants, and construction teams to deliver high-quality developments.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Architectural Design Leadership Create and refine architectural concepts for residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments. Translate market research and client needs into functional and appealing designs. Balance aesthetics with practicality, ensuring designs meet developer goals and cost parameters.

2. Project Development Oversight Manage projects from pre-concept stages through to construction completion. Coordinate with planning, construction, and marketing teams to align design strategies with project objectives. Prepare feasibility studies and evaluate potential sites for development suitability.

3. Regulatory Compliance and Approvals Ensure designs comply with building codes, zoning regulations, and legal requirements. Liaise with local authorities to secure planning permissions and approvals.

4. Collaboration with Construction Teams Provide detailed design inputs for construction planning and execution. Address design challenges during construction and propose practical solutions. Conduct site inspections to ensure design integrity and quality standards.
5. Team Leadership and Mentorship Lead and mentor junior architects, designers, and drafters. Oversee the development of architectural drawings, 3D models, and presentations. Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and teamwork.

6. Sustainability and Market Trends Integrate sustainable and energy-efficient practices into designs. Stay updated on real estate trends, market demands, and emerging technologies to shape competitive designs.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Architecture (a focus on real estate development is a plus).

Experience: 8+ years in architecture, preferably in real estate or construction development projects. Licensing: Licensed Architect (mandatory).

Technical Proficiency: Expertise in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and other design tools; knowledge of BIM is an asset.

Soft Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills; ability to manage multiple stakeholders.

Preferred Skills Knowledge of cost estimation and value engineering. Experience with large-scale residential or mixed-use developments. Familiarity with project financing, market analysis, and ROI-focused designs.
