Pipe Stress Engineer

Major Responsibilities:

• Identify different stress packages through review of P&IDs / Line Designation tables.
• Performs piping flexibility analysis for critical piping systems during preliminary design and detailed design phase of Project using Pipe stress (PEPS) Software program
• Perform analysis for sustained, thermal and multiple operating cases, occasional (viz winds, seismic, relief, hammer etc.)
• Perform pipe stress analysis for different equipment like Steam turbine, Compressors, Centrifugal Pumps, tanks, exchangers, heaters, columns, etc.
• Provide pipe loading information to Civil/Structure
• Resolve high pipe loads on equipment nozzles & high secondary stresses in piping.
• Selection of spring hangers, snubbers, struts for pipe supports.
• Locate and identify pipe supports on isometrics along with type of supports.
• Evaluation of local stresses via code using WRC107/297 or FEA.
• Coordinate design of exclusive pipe supports as needed.
• Interact frequently with various engineering disciplines and departments.
• Develop detailed requisitions for pipe stress equipments and materials.
• Review vendor drawing submittals and conduct technical bid evaluation.
• Should have strong communication skills
• Should be able to mentor the juniors for delivering high quality deliverable on time

Education and Experience Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the relevant field is required
• A recognized degree in a job-related engineering or scientific discipline from an accredited college or university, or specialized courses in relevant general engineering, design or science or an appropriate engineering discipline.
• Conversant with applicable Codes & Standards for plant piping design, ASME/ANSI B31.1
• Able to provide quick and effective technical solutions, to suit requirements at all stage of the project.

Competency:

• Experience in power plant domain
• Pipe stress (PEPS) or CAESAR II experience is a must
• Working knowledge in 3D tools such as E3D /PDMS and AutoCAD knowledge is an added advantage
• Effective Communication, Self-Discipline, Teamwork
