Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled IT Technician to join our Data Center team, specializing in email system administration. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting email services, ensuring secure and uninterrupted email communications. This role involves working within a data center environment, monitoring server performance, resolving email-related issues, and implementing best practices for email security and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Email Administration & Support:

  • Manage and maintain enterprise email systems (Microsoft Exchange, Google Workspace, or other email platforms)
  • Monitor email performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure minimal downtime
  • Implement email security protocols (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) to protect against phishing and spam
  • Provide user support for email-related problems, including configuration, access, and delivery issues
  • Perform email migrations and system upgrades when necessary

Data Center Operations:

  • Monitor email servers and related infrastructure within the data center
  • Perform routine maintenance, backups, and system updates to optimize email performance
  • Work closely with network and security teams to ensure email traffic flows securely and efficiently
  • Maintain email storage management and archiving solutions

Security & Compliance:

  • Enforce email policies and security guidelines to prevent data breaches
  • Monitor email logs and alerts for suspicious activities or system errors
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.)
  • Assist in conducting email security awareness training for employees

Technical Documentation & Reporting:

  • Document email configurations, troubleshooting steps, and best practices
  • Generate reports on email system performance, security threats, and uptime metrics
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base for internal IT teams and end-users

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in email administration and IT support, preferably in a data center environment
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, Google Workspace, or similar platforms
    • Knowledge of email security protocols (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, TLS)
    • Experience with email filtering, anti-spam solutions, and archiving tools
    • Familiarity with Active Directory, DNS, and SMTP troubleshooting
    • Basic scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Python, or Bash) is a plus
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
    • Excellent communication skills for user support and documentation
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced data center environment

Preferred Certifications (Not Mandatory):

  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Messaging Administrator Associate
  • Google Workspace Administrator Certification
  • CompTIA Security+ (for email security knowledge)
