Database Administrator - PostgreSQL

Role & responsibilities

• You have a deep understanding of Oracle and PostgreSQL, combined with knowledge of other database technologies like MariaDB, MongoDB, MS SQL, and ClickHouse. •You are an expert in cluster configuration, deployment, and scripting automation, with the ability to troubleshoot and debug issues effectively. •You value data integrity, security, and are passionate about providing high availability through L2 support. •You possess strong analytical skills, with the ability to monitor, optimize, and enhance database performance. •You are driven to maintain 100% uptime with robust backup policies, disaster recovery configurations, and synchronization mechanisms. •You are detail-oriented and ensure comprehensive documentation and compliance across all your responsibilities.

• Database Administration: Administer, configure, and maintain Oracle and PostgreSQL databases, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and security. •Cluster Configuration & Deployment: Design and deploy highly available database clusters, ensuring data consistency and resilience. •Scripting & Automation: Develop automation scripts for routine tasks like backups, monitoring, deployment, and reporting. •Integration & Debugging: Integrate databases with other applications, services, and platforms; troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues. •Backup & Data Retrieval: Create and maintain robust backup policies, ensuring timely and secure data retrieval and disaster recovery. •High Availability & Synchronization: Implement high availability architectures and synchronization strategies across databases. •Disaster Recovery (DC-DR): Develop and maintain disaster recovery configurations, ensuring preparedness in case of failures •Performance Monitoring & Optimization: Monitor and tune database performance, addressing bottlenecks and optimizing queries and indexes. •Security Management: Implement best-in-class database security measures, including encryption, access control, and vulnerability management.

L2 Support & 100% Availability: Provide L2 support for critical database issues, ensuring continuous uptime and rapid issue resolution.

• Documentation & Compliance: Maintain detailed documentation of all database processes, architectures, and policies, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
• Collaboration & Training: Work closely with Project , development, Testing and operations teams, and provide training and guidance on database best practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience managing and administering Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
• Familiarity with MariaDB, MongoDB, MS SQL Server, and ClickHouse.
• Proven expertise in cluster configuration, high availability setups, and scripting/automation.
• Hands-on experience with backup policies, disaster recovery plans, and performance tuning.
• Strong understanding of security best practices, including encryption, role management, and access control. Experience providing L2 support and maintaining 100% database availability in a production environment
