Legal Manager - Collections

Role & Responsibilities

• Familiarize yourself with key Indian laws governing recovery and collection, including RBI guidelines for fair practices in debt collection.
• Design innovative and cost saving legal collections strategy to get desired results for assigned state/s.
• Collaborate with state collections team to leverage legal provisions and guide the team to maximize revenue by increasing collections efficiency, reducing NPAs and rolling back recoveries from write-off accounts.
• Thoroughly validate debts by reviewing relevant documentation like scrutinizing original loan agreements, assessing outstanding amounts owed and verifying accuracy and consistency of correspondence related to the debt.
• Promptly address any discrepancies to maintain transparency and legal compliance.
• Perform market research to study customers collection behavior, latest trends and competitor activity.
• Regularly track the portfolio, analyze the trends, and take actions to mitigate the loopholes in the process and increase efficiency in the collection and recovery process.
• To manage litigation filed by or against SSFB and coordinate with the Vendors for speedy disposal of cases.
• Communicate clearly and ethically and effectively.
• Maintain accurate borrower information throughout recovery and legal processes.

Skills Required

• 5 years of experience in legal domain with a financial institute.
• Previous experience in a MFI/Bank/NBFC handling JLG or Individual Loan product.
• Excellent knowledge of legal drafting and notices for recovery.
• Understanding and interest in financial / banking products and markets and regulatory guidelines and norms.
• Ability to analyze and research information.
