Role & responsibilities

A Restaurant FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis) Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial analysis functions within a restaurant or restaurant group. This role is crucial in helping restaurant management make informed financial decisions that enhance profitability, operational efficiency, and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Analysis and Reporting:
• Provide detailed financial analysis, including variance analysis (comparing actual results to budget and forecast, profitability analysis, and trend analysis).
• Identify financial risks and opportunities, offering insights into cost-saving initiatives and revenue optimization.
2. Cost Control and Profitability Management:
• Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as food costs, labor costs, operating expenses, and sales performance.
• Recommend strategies to control costs and improve profitability without compromising quality or guest experience.
3. Operational Support and Partnership:
• Collaborate with restaurant managers, chefs, and other operational leaders to provide financial guidance and recommendations for operational improvements.
• Educate and support the team in understanding financial statements and how their decisions impact the bottom line.
4. Technology and Systems:
• Use financial software and tools to track performance, create forecasts, and analyze trends.
• Manage invoicing database, particularly with respect to Actual vs Theoretical Food & Beverage Cost which may include managing/creating recipes, mapping SKUs, and investigating variances.

Preferred candidate profile:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA or CPA is a plus.
• Experience: 5+ years of financial analysis and planning experience, ideally in the restaurant or hospitality industry.
• Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; proficiency in Excel, financial modeling, and financial software; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge: Understanding of restaurant operations, cost structures, and financial best practices.
