Mainframe Developer - Storage Protocol (10-12 yrs)

Job Description :

- We are looking for a skilled and experienced Mainframe Planner and Storage Hardware Specialist to join our team.

- The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of IBM mainframe hardware, including installation, configuration, and operations, with specific expertise in FICON channel configurations and IBM Virtual Tape Library (VTL) functionality.

- You will work closely with the AMEX DC team, providing both on-site and remote support for mainframe systems, and ensuring smooth operations for IBM hardware.

Key Responsibilities :

IBM Hardware Installation & Configuration :

- Install and configure IBM mainframe hardware and I/O devices.

- Understand IBM HMC architecture, FICON channels, VTL operations, and OSA adapters.

- Create FICON and OSA cabling diagrams for AMEX DCI staff.

- Provide FICON port layout information for IOCD creation.

- Manage hardware installations, upgrades, and removals, creating RFCs (Changes) as necessary.

- Work with AMEX facilities and DCI staff to receive and place hardware on the raised floor.

- Update IBM's CMDB asset tracking database with information on local assets.

Incident, Change Control & Problem Tracking :

- Familiarity with change and incident management systems (AmEx uses ServiceNow).

- Respond to incidents within 15-30 minutes during on-call shifts.

- Participate in emergency bridge calls to resolve operational issues.

- Diagnose device or CPU path issues and work with mainframe operations to stabilize the system.

- Create changes and schedule service for IBM hardware as needed.

- Collaborate with service personnel to resolve hardware issues and schedule necessary repairs.

Skills & Qualifications :

- Mainframe Top Gun Certification.

- Minimum 10-12 years of experience in Mainframe Planning and Storage Hardware.

- Strong understanding of IBM mainframe hardware, including FICON, VTL, and OSA adapters.

- Detailed knowledge of IBM virtual tape operations and the IBM Virtual Tape Grid concept.

- Proficiency in cabling diagrams, FICON configurations, and hardware installation.

- Experience with IBM's HMC architecture and change management practices.

- Ability to work on both remote and on-site support in Mumbai and Bangalore.

- Strong troubleshooting skills for incident management and system operation issues.

- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
