Senior Mainframe Developer - Banking Domain (10-12 yrs)

Job Description :

We are seeking a highly skilled Mainframe PL1 Developer with extensive experience in PL/1, COBOL, and DB2 to join our dynamic team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Mainframe development within the Banking domain, a good understanding of the SDLC, and be comfortable working in both Development and Maintenance projects.

The candidate will be involved in maintaining and enhancing core banking systems and ensuring seamless integration with various services.

Key Responsibilities :

- Develop and maintain applications written in PL/1, COBOL, and integrate them with DB2 databases.

- Provide support for the SDLC, including design, development, testing, and deployment phases.

- Actively participate in both development and maintenance of banking applications, ensuring smooth operation of critical business functions.

- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Mainframe applications in a timely and efficient manner.

- Work closely with business and technical teams to gather requirements and design solutions.

- Understand the Agile methodology and adapt to an iterative approach to project development.

- Contribute to the creation of user stories, test cases, and backlogs in Agile environments.

- Ensure that applications follow best practices and are delivered on time and meet quality standards.

- Work with DB2 databases to develop, optimize, and manage queries that interface with the applications.

- Ensure efficient data retrieval and performance optimization of database-driven processes.

- Provide clear and effective documentation of PL/1, COBOL, and DB2 development work, including technical specifications, design documentation, and support manuals.

- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to discuss progress, issues, and requirements.

- Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills when identifying and addressing issues in the application.

- Ability to switch between Development and Maintenance projects based on business needs.

- Show a flexible mindset in adapting to new technologies and processes as the organization evolves.

- A solid understanding of Corporate Banking will be a strong advantage, as the role requires familiarity with banking operations, payment systems, and related processes.

Key Skills and Technologies :

- PL/1, COBOL

- DB2 (hands-on experience with complex queries, data retrieval, optimization)

- Proficient in using JCL for job scheduling and batch processing.

- Comfortable working in an Agile environment and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

- Strong analytical skills to identify issues, debug, and provide efficient solutions.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- 10+ years in Mainframe development.

- At least 8 years of hands-on experience with PL/1, COBOL, and DB2 in a banking domain.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Work Location :

Bangalore & Pune - Hybrid, expected to be on-site for at least 10 working days per month
