Director of Engineering

Mission StatementLead the engineering team for Infrastructure to build scalable, robust, reliable, and innovative cloud-based systems and platforms for SAAS applications catering to a wide range of customers (Consumers, Enterprises, SMBs) and a wide variety of products (Taxation, Supply Chain, APIs).

The Director of Engineering (Infra) will drive operational excellence, set high-quality standards, and ensure system reliability and security.

This role will involve handling complex multi-cloud setups, fostering innovation, and building a high-performance culture.

It requires someone who can navigate ambiguity, make decisive decisions, and deliver results in high-pressure environments.

Key Outcomes * System Reliability: Ensure that our cloud services have 99.

99% availability, provide disaster recovery and have high performance.

Ensure that systems are easily able to handle the AOP needs.

* Multi-region, multi-provider clouds: As we transition into a Global player we will need to have deployments in multiple regions.

Incoming DoE needs to ensure that we partner with the best provider in each region.

All clouds need to be securely connected to ensure a multi-region user base.

* Security and compliance: Owns cloud security and puts the best in class controls for the same.

Partners with the Infosec leader to ensure all the compliance requirements including but not limited to DPDP, GDPR etc Creates right abstractions for Developers to empower them in shifting-left.

* Engg productivity enhancements: Ensures that cloud services enable dev and QA teams to move with high velocity and confidence.

* Observability: Sets up the right observability tools and makes sure that they are adopted.

Puts in the right framework for build vs buy decisions.

* Cost optimization: Ensures that cost to revenue ratio has a downward curve (goal TBD).

Employs automated cost saving initiatives, keeps dev teams in check, partners with vendors to ensure the best deals.

* Production management (for customer success): Set up the right processes and ensure its adherence to ensure that production issues are addressed within agreed SLAs and long term fixes (RCFs) are done to avoid recurrence.

* Technical upliftment: Sets up mechanisms to identify and prioritize tech debt and capex and execute plans to continuously address them, ensuring short-term needs with long-term architectural integrity.

Works with staff engineers and architects to invent and implement the right abstractions.
