Position - Product Owner - API Infrastructure

Location - Gurgaon

Experience - 9+ yrs

The Product Owner - API Infrastructure will play a critical role in driving the development and continuous improvement of our API ecosystem. You will own the API product lifecycle from design through to deployment, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performance API solutions. Your primary focus will be on managing the secure and efficient exchange of data between our banking platform and third-party vendors while ensuring full compliance with regulatory and data security standards.

Must-Have Qualifications:

• Experience: 9-11 years of experience in product ownership, with a strong focus on API development, integration, and management.
• Technical Expertise: Solid understanding of API architecture, RESTful services, and microservices design principles.
• Banking Domain Knowledge: Experience working within the banking or financial services industry, with knowledge of financial data standards (e.g., ISO 20022, SWIFT) and compliance requirements (e.g., PSD2, GDPR).
• Data Security & Governance: In-depth understanding of data security, privacy, and governance, especially in the context of external data exchanges.
• API Performance Optimization: Experience with API performance monitoring, load balancing, and optimizing API response times.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proven ability to work with diverse teams (engineering, legal, compliance, business) to deliver high-quality API products.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of regulatory requirements in the financial sector, including but not limited to GDPR, PSD2, and data protection laws.
• Product Lifecycle Management: Experience managing the full API product lifecycle, from ideation and design to deployment and post-launch monitoring.
• Excellent Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Good-to-Have Qualifications:

• Cloud Platforms: Experience with cloud platforms (GCP) and API management.
• Agile Methodology: Experience working in an Agile development environment, with expertise in Scrum, Kanban, or similar frameworks.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications in API management, security (e.g., Certified Information Systems Security Professional - CISSP), or financial industry standards.
• Third-Party Integration: Experience managing and overseeing third-party API integrations, including vendor negotiations, SLA management, and security audits.
• Technical Background: A background in software engineering or technical architecture is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

• API Product Ownership: Own and manage the API product lifecycle, from concept to deployment, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical requirements.
• API Design & Development: Lead the design and architecture of APIs, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and secure for data exchange with third-party vendors.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams (engineering, security, legal, compliance, business) and external stakeholders to gather requirements, define product features, and drive API product strategies.
• Data Security & Governance: Ensure that all API interactions comply with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), security standards, and banking-specific regulatory frameworks.
• Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize the performance, security, and scalability of the API infrastructure.
• Vendor Management: Coordinate with third-party vendors to ensure API integrations are secure, efficient, and meet service-level agreements (SLAs).
• Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Drive the adoption of best practices in API design and integration, staying up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to enhance the API platform.
• Compliance & Risk Management: Collaborate with legal, compliance, and audit teams to ensure that the API infrastructure meets all regulatory requirements.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation for the API infrastructure, ensuring transparency and alignment across all teams.
